Hi,
I've been a big fan of Paint Shop Pro since the early days (currently on X3 ultimate) generally upgrading every couple of versions but isn't it about time Corel started to offer Paint Shop Pro in a 64bit flavour? I've been caught out more than once when working with massive multi layered compositions where I've hit the Windows 2 GB process limit and PSP either can't save or in extreme (and rare cases) just crashes out.
Does anyone close to Corel know if 64bit support is on the roadmap for the next release.
Thanks,
Philip

Re: Paint Shop Pro 64bit Support
Well, I'm just a few days into poking around here, haven't even created any layers of which I am aware, nor have I managed come close to the 10,000x10,000 pixel limit, let alone 2GB as far as I know, and still managed a few crashes. Now to figure out how to NOT crash the app.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 64bit Support
As of yet there is no definitive answer. Corel has been batting around the idea, just not sure when it's going to happen. There was one point they were considering offering it only to people who subscribed to the program (hopefully an idea that has since been laid to rest) but other than "it's still being considered" I have not heard anything definitive on when they plan on releasing a 64-bit version.
Then again I only hear the rumors from one Corel person on the CorelYourWay forums.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 64bit Support
I used a small program "Large Address Aware" to check whether the switch which enables the 32 Bit program PSP X4 to access more than 2GB of memory was activated. The installation did activate this switch, so the program should be able to access up to 4GB of ram on a 64 bit system.

Thanks Bill, I tried this on X3 and I believe it worked.

Re: Paint Shop Pro 64bit Support
Yes, Dan, it does work. I am just surprised it is not more commonly used by PSP users.
It is commonly used in video editing, in particular by users of Vegas Movie studio, which is far more demanding of RAM usage than image editors. I also use it in Nikon Capture NX2, Canon DPP, and DVD Architect Studio in addition to Movie Studio.
Compared to using a 64bit version of a program it does limit you to using only 4GB of RAM, but on the positive side you can still use all the 32bit plug-ins you have.
Regards
Bill
