PSP X4 Will not load anymore

Post by Marway »

I have reached my last tipping point with my PSP. I have X4, running on a Toshiba laptop (Qosmio X505), Windows 7 Home Premium, 4GB Ram (only 1/3 of hard drive is full), 64 bit, 1.6 GHz processor.

While trying to perform a simple task, I suddenly got a message saying I didn't have enough memory, so I tried to save my file, and the program hung up. After getting it shut down, I tried to open the program again, but it wouldn't load. I did a cold boot, and as the program began to load, I got a message saying, "Paint Shop Pro has stopped working... a problem caused the program to shut down". It seems to hang up when at the point where the Materials Manager is initializing. I tried uninstalling the program, and then reinstalling it and I am still getting the same message when I tried to load it.

I have not installed or uninstalled, nor made any changes to my computer of late. Before I tried reinstalling the program, I used my PCMatic to to see if I had any other probleitms. None were detected.

I have been buying Paint Shop Pro since version 9 and have purchased every new version. Frankly, since Corel took over this program, it's never been as good. I keep hoping they will fix the problems, but instead of fixing things, they just keep adding to it.

Does anyone have any idea why I can't get the program to load, or what I can do to fix this? I use my PSP daily and am desperate to fix this.

Thanks.

i believe you can reset paintshop pro by holding down shift when you double click it's icon.

that would be your first port of call. there is also the resetDB application.

Try resetting the things flagpole suggests, but if you find yourself reinstalling use a third party uninstaller. I use RevoUnInstaller and like it. It uses the Windows uninstaller then cleans up the leftovers that can cause issues like you've encountered. http://majorgeeks.com/Revo_Uninstaller_d5706.html Run it, and the programs on your computer are listed. Choose the one you want (PSP in this case) then click UnInstall, choose advanced to get everything, follow the on screen directions. Revo creates a system restore point automatically.

This option worked. Thank you very much. I am also glad to know of the RevoUnInstaller. I cleaned up a few other old programs as well.

I appreciate both your and flagpole's efforts to find a solution for me.
