Video Studio Pro X4 No Sound For Title Tracks.

Post by seanlove »

I just downloaded the trial version of video studio pro x4, everything seems to work fine, however every time I try to add text to my video, outside of the title tracks, it comes out with NO Sound! Is there something Im missing? Or has this been disabled because its a trial version? I reviewed a few video blogs on how to use the software from to back, but no thing was address with the lack of sound within the title tracks, etc, etc. Is there something Im missing?

Please advise.

Hello Sean, and welcome to the forums!

I am not sure I totally understand your problem. Is it that when you insert a title and play it back, there is no sound? But are you playing the whole video plus the title, or just the title? Have you clicked on the Project button immediately below the middle of the preview screen? Does that make a difference?

In any case, we need to know what kind of audio you are talking about. Please right click on the audio in the main video track and copy ALL its properties here. That way we may be able to get a better handle on what is going on.

Im editing my photography videos to put on my personal website, Im trying to write my domain name on the bottom lower half of the video the problem is once I write anything on file the software automatically inserts it into the title track, which cuts the sound. All the older version I never had that problem writing anything on the video files, this one seems to cut the sound for some strange reason.

Also once the video is done playing and Click here to add titles pops up, I retype my domain name, resize it, hit the counter for how long I want it to display and thats when the sound goes blank for the entire video, rather than playing the video and displaying my domain name with sound. What am I missing here?

I'm still at a loss as to what you mean by "write on a file" as opposed to the normal method of entering text in the title track.

the normal procedure would be to select the title option (right of the preview screen)then you should see the message "Double click to enter text" - when you do that the title text is inserted into the title track - where it should be. But text alone has no sound so do you have something in another track which does have sound - is there anything in the audio tack through the title area - you say you are using videos so they will have sound - if you had a photo that would possibly not have sound. So what audio do you have in the audio track and does that start before - continue through - and after the title block.

If you do have a sound track in an audio track are you saying that the audio plays before the title - stops during the time the text is displayed , but restarts as soon as the text clears

EDIT - I have removed your post with e-mail address and request for people to e-mail you direct - this is an open forum for discussion by all members and we want all members to see and participate in all discussions - someone else with the same problem may find the answers useful

Hi

There are two ways to play your files.

In Project Playback, this plays all the timetracks together containing the various clips.

In Clip Mode, this plays the individual clips only. Select any clip in the timeline.

The words Clip and Project adjacent to the play button are highlighted to indicate which mode you are in.

Click the word Project then play, do you hear sound.

I'm having the same problem. If I add a video for editing, it plays audio just fine when I have it set to "Clip". But when I click on "Project" and try to play back my video, there is no sound.

The strange thing is I was able to edit two videos prior to this problem happening without issues. Now, all of a sudden there's no audio in my projects. I resorted to using another video editing program that I have, but I hate that one because it crashes all the time. That was the reason I decided to give Corel a try.

My codecs are up to date.
Reinstalling doesn't help.
I haven't added anything to my computer hardware-wise or software-wise that would mess up audio.

Hi sowen

It may be the type of video files you are using, right click a video and select properties, what are they?

However i have noticed an audio problem after adding a FX filter,
Whilst the FX icon is highlighted i have the issue.
clicking the top icon seems to allow the clip to play ok.

File Format: Microsoft AVI files
Video: Compression Xvid MPEG 4 Codec
Audio: Compression MPEG Layer 3

It's the same type of file I used to successfully make my other two videos I mentioned above. In fact, I tried editing the video file that I used to make a successful project and it doesn't work anymore either. :?: I've searched this forum and have found people with similar issues but no solution.

Hi

Xvid is a highly compressed format and does cause some problems for some.
If the video files used to work in the past then something has changed on your system.
Windows updates, installing codec packs etc………..

There is a Xvid site that may help
http://www.xvid.org/

I do not use Xvid so cannot test or simulate your problem, Mpeg 3 audio is said to be problematic but it used to work……….

What have you changed on your system, installed any other software????????

I've discovered something. If I don't do anything at all to the video file and select "Project" then hit play, the audio is fine. The moment I do anything - move the scrubber, move the trim markers, click on the timeline, add any kind of editing at all, the sound cuts off when in Project mode.

I've found another topic that is describing my exact problem. http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=41430

I didn't add anything new to my computer besides the usual antivirus and firewall updates. I will not uninstall those to get this program to work. Anyway, I'm looking at another video editing program but curiosity has got me and I want to know why VS doesn't work properly. I've read that VS X3 doesn't have this issue. Is it possible to downgrade from X4 to X3?

Hello, I've just been through the Gordian Knot of "sound on clip/no sound on project." It seems as simple as VideoStudeo X4 does not support some formats. In my case, an .avi file in the Xvid format. I converted my original file (with Format Factory) to MP4 with AAC audio encoding and everything went smoothly with a good output. Using the Multi-Trimmed project of my original avi/Xvid file, I could use the time marks to quickly cut up my "new" converted MP4/AAC file. Concerning the ultimate result, I tried some tweaks on the input (720p-10801) and on the output (same range) but I don't see the difference on my 24 inch monitor. I'll use these video clips in a classroom with a "highend" video projector and a large screen and will comment again, if there is a difference.

I could find no way to salvage the situation of spending 6 hours muli-trimming a source video from the AVI/Xvid format--other than noting the time marks of my previous work (luckily I had saved all my clips from the editing process to the clip library, where I could note the time marks.

I had been previously using PowerDirector from Cyberlink, and in many ways I find VideoStudio to be superior both in practicality (i.e stability) and aesthetics. But there is one big benefit of PowerDirector--Popups warn you that you are not using a compatible format. Corel can't cover every format (ancient or abstruse) but AVI/Xvid is so common, there should be a warning flag from the beginning, if you want to keep customers.

There really should be an easy to find list of acceptable/optimal/unacceptable input/output formats for this editing software. Maybe I'm a fool for not seeing that the output options for VideoStudio X4 are so slanted toward MP4 and WMV.

This is one of the oldest and still truest principles of computing: garbage in/garbage out. When a fairly standard input AVI/Xvid is garbage, we need to know it up front.
