ResetDB.exe= Trojan???

Post by tonymontana »

Hi

I recently installed Paintshop Pro x4 (trial version) on my computer, from Corel's site.I've liked the software so far. However, today, I was "greeted" by my antivirus( Kaspersky internet security 12) with a message informing me that: " (...) Corel\Corel Paintshop PRO X4\ ResetDB.exe\ UPX is a(virus) Trojan.Win32.Generic". It asked me to "disenfect" the file and a subsquent rebbot. So I allowed it so.After reboot, I tried to get the file, but apparently the antivirus must have deleted it. Have you ever had such an experience with this? What is this "ReseDB.exe"? What does it do? I'm pretty sure this was a "false positive" but, because I wasn't able to find any topic/support about it online, it kind of sparked my curiosity...so just in case, I'm checking if you guys know anything about this.
By the way, Paintshop works fine without the file: I've already checked.

Thanks

Paulo

But it also works fine with it. I have no idea what the file does, though it seems to be the method to restore the PSP database to factory default. Moreover, it is installed as a normal part of PSP, and my Nortons 360 5.0 doesn't detect it as anything out of the normal.

Could be a false positive result from Kaspersky, I'm using AVG and no message for me. You can try and update your anti-virus to see if that will make it recognize that ResetDB.exe (from COREL) is not harmful.
