VS ProX4 SP 2 Update Now Available

Just launched VS ProX4 today....checked for updates and found this:

VideoStudio Pro X4 Service Pack 2 is now available. This free update delivers a variety of new performance updates, feature enhancements and bug fixes, including:

Improved quality of transitions in project output
Improved compatibility with multiple video file formats, including Mpeg2, Mpeg4, AVI and H.264
Fix for crashes occurring when importing certain files with Chinese Traditional file names
Fix for incorrect placement and numbering of disc menu thumbnails
Chapter menu changes can now be saved
Fix for crashes occurring while previewing Corel MotionStudio 3D files (.C3D) in the filter customization page
Improved stability when enabling/disabling hardware acceleration
Improved stability when enabling Smart Proxy and hardware acceleration
Improved stability when importing AVCHD folders

Dunno this will fix any of the issues people are having. We'll have to wait/see, I guess.

Interesting - I just checked and was told there are no updates available at this time.

I had to go via Patches & Updates and do it manually.

Like you Brian I ran Check for Updates but told there were non,
and same again viewing the Corel Site-Update and Patches a new one is available

I checked and applied the update from my laptop X4 system from w/in X4.
When I check with the desktop, it told me the desktop was up2date....so only Corel would know what the update detection problem is.
Clearly they have an issue here.

Maybe the issue is insufficient beta testing?

I don't think there was any beta testing of the service pack in the sense of non-Corel staff testing it. I was one of the X4 beta testers. And heck, I didn't even know about this SP until seeing this thread... FWIW, my X4 also doesn't detect any updates being available. But at least with your heads-up, it is easy enough to go to the corel.com website and find it...

Just like Ken, I learned about the VS X4 SP2 when I read this thread. Plus I don't have any information as to when did update went live. Ok, there it is.. according to the Update page, the VS X4 SP2 was released 2011-11-23, so it's just two days old.

I am going to ask what may be an obvious answer, but I would like to clarify this before I add anything that might cause glitches or hiccups in my program which is working flawlessly now. Is the new service pack for VS Pro X4 also for the Ultimate version of the software? I assume it does apply since both the Pro and Ultimate are exactly same at the core. Is this a correct assumption? I've certainly applied it with no problem to my Ultimate version with no adverse effects. As you say, Pro and Ultimate are exactly the same package. My version number is now 14.2.0.23.

Interestingly enough, I see that the latest trial version uses that same number, so must already include SP2. Unusually up to date of Corel, if that is the case...

Hi Guys,
I tried the Check For Updates function in VS X4, twice, and it did not find any updates. My current version number is 14.1.0.107, with SP1 installed. I will try downloading the update from the Corel site directly. I'm interested to see what if does to importing my AVCHD files.

Finally was able to install the updates that has been mentioned and so far all is a go. Like Ken, my version changed to 14.2.0.23 once the installation was complete. Here's keeping my fingers crossed, but so far all is working well. Thanks Ken and others for the info and I too had to go to the website to get the update as my software said I had the latest before I installed the SP2. Love this forum and the help if offers. Does SP2 include all of the content / updates from SP1 as well?

Or if you are doing a clean install, do you need to install the App, then SP1, and then SP2?

Just tried to install SP2 and got the following message:

I then realized that I had not installed SP1. Tried to do that and got the same message.
My version number shows 14.2.0.23. I've been using X4 happily for a few months, so not sure if I really need to install the SP's.
Using the "check for updates" tells me there are no updates available.

Please don't tell me to do a remove and re-install! I thought having X3 also on my system was causing the above problem so I removed it -- it took 20 mins. or more to un-install!

As you will see from my post above, my version number, after applying the patches, is the same as yours. So obviously your version came with the patches already incorporated, and you have no need to do anything further.
