VS X4 not installing

Post by GilbyTwins »

Very long time user of Video studio. Purchased upgrade to X4 yesterday and it wouldn't install. Called tech support and they had me uninstall both X3 and X4, manually clean and remove all traces. Check. Reinstall continues to give the error message of..... "Path to language folder could not be resolved. Setup cannot continue."

I watch this folder...
C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Local\Temp\Corel VideoStudio Pro X4 Ultimate\14.0.0.001
and it expands as the self extracting file fills the folder up. Then I get about 5-6 small screen flashes, the files get removed, and the message pops up.

Any thoughts? Pretty please???? -Dave

Running W7 x64 on dual quad core intel i920. FYI

I know there was a similar error message before in the PaintShop Pro forum a few months ago, but the problem was never resolved. This is the first time to my knowledge that it has appeared in Video Studio, any version. Doing a Google search, other users of Corel products have had similar messages with at least Corel Draw X5 and Corel Office. Again with no resolution, sorry.

The only thing I can suggest is that you start a new User profile in Windows and try installing in that. If it works, you should then be able to open it in your normal User profile.

Thanks Ken.

I went back to the "clean old X4" discussions and tried again. I DID miss one key in registry. Deleted that, Cleaned disk and it installed. Got it going! Yeah!
I will make a new post for another problem if I cannot find an answer... thanks for the prompt response.
