Convert 50P to 25P slow motion

Post by edmond320 »

Hi dear all,
I am currently filming with Panasonic TM700 1080 50P. I want to creat a slow motion video. I know FCP Cinema Tool can change 50P to 25P slow motion.
Is there any way that I can do this with Video Studio Pro X3.
Thank you for your help !!

Regards

I don't have Video Studio on this machine, but try Edit -> Options -> Speed/Time lapse and change the speed to 50%. (Page 53 of your user manual... If you have the same version of the manual as me...)

That won't make your framerate to 25fps... There are usually different reasons for changing speed & framerate, so most video editors will assume you only want to change one of those parameters.

To change the framerate (without affecting speed), you can change your project settings. Or, I think you can change the framerate when you render ("share").

Your real problem, though, is that neither X3 nor X4 can deal with 50/60P video. Camcorders producing such video had not appeared when X3 was released. And though there were more of them when X4 came out, and are getting more common now, Corel have to date only followed the international standard by allowing 1280 x 720p video at those frame rates, but not 1920 x 1080p. I even pressed them on this during the beta testing process for X4, but they still did not include it. I am hoping, though, that it will at least be included in the next version of VS.

Given that X3 cannot play 50p, in effect it throws away every second frame so you get 25p video, but not in slow motion.

Thank you for your reply, but what you suggested is to change the speed of the video, but don't give a smooth slow motion by converting 50P to 25P that come with x0.5 speed.

I didn't suggest anything. All I did was state the fact that X3 and X4 cannot properly play or edit 50p video. When they play it -- if they can -- they throw away one frame in two, and this will usually mean jerky video. If you then halve the speed, the jerkiness will be further exaggerated.
