Can't stop Black Friday AD

Post by Dizzie »

when I opened PSP X3 today it downloaded and installed an update patch. Now everytime I open the program I am immediately hit with "Black Friday Sale" advertisement. No matter how many times I put a check mark in the "Do not display this again" box, it still does it. How do I get rid of it; uninstall the update?

There should be a folder with an XML file and image for the messages. I don't remember where this Message Cache is though. I believe it's in the hidden "Program Files" folder. But if you find that and erase it you might be able to get rid of the image.

The other option is to turn off messages. Click on the orange button at the top there, the circular one with the white dots in it. That should bring up a manager where you can manage message and update settings. I don't remember off hand, I've completely removed X3 from my system.

Is it the same ad or is there more than one? I have 5 ads that cycle, get rid of one and another shows up eventually, but it's not every time I open the program though.

If you click that funny looking orange icon bellow the X to close the program you'll see them there too. Click the two gears and select Message preferences you'll get a dialog. You can uncheck "Keep me informed with the latest product related messages" and you shouldn't see any more offers.

You can delete the messages folder under "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Corel\" then try disabling the Messages Preferences by opening the COREL GUIDE then click on 2 gears that you'll at the top-right corner of the Corel Guide screen then Message Preferences.
