I agree, this was definitely not in any previous version I've owned and since ver 7 the only one I have missed buying was X1. I'm beginning to wonder what level of competence these programmers have to introduce so many new major bugs in a program that used to work so well. Every time I go to use X4 I seem to find another issue that was never there before.
As to the offsetting of the pasted image, copying a jpeg from my browser or the snipping tool seems to work okay, but copying a gif gives the offset result as shown below.
BUT I also cannot copy and paste correctly from PS nor DRAW5, another Corel program.
I have not had time to test any other program as yet.
Disgusted and also embarrassed as I suggested X4 may be worth trying after reading some beta tester's reviews.
Have attached 4 more images.
I've also noticed that the offset side is moved upwards by approx 1 pixel in each image.
The orange flower button is a copy to clipboard from PS of a normal jpeg image which I had saved myself using the Jpeg Optimizer in PSPX.

The rose button is a copy to clipboard from Draw5 of a normal jpeg image which I had saved myself using the Jpeg Optimizer in PSPX.
The Globe is a copy to clipboard from Draw5 of a JPEG image I had downloaded from the web and saved in a folder.
When I pasted it in X4, not only did it offset the image but it also changed the colours of the right offset side.

The butterfly is a copy to clipboard from my browser and is a Gif image. I got the same result from any copied Gif image.

All these copy from clipboard images worked perfectly when pasted into X and X3....Pat

Newby to PSP here, but saw this thread while debating whether to download my newly purchased PSP X4 or wait a day.

The wheels started going around in my head as soon as I figured out what was meant by "offset". Where had I seen that before? Oh yes. Ten years ago during the transition fron 16 bit to "32" bit apps. WMF to EMF transition period.

Based on my memories, I would suggest that you select an alternate printer driver. Perhaps a modern PDF creator app would do, if it is a similar offset problem and you don't want to waste ink? Or an updated video card driver? if I stretch my imagination, I could even think that the offset in the color indexing could have a similar cause to the raster display offset.

Now back to dinner and then trying to learn PSP. Still have PhotoImpact X3.

The problem "cuts on the right and puts it on the left" has been fixed with SP1 which can be expected soon.

That color problem reminds me of the CMYK bug that will never be fixed.
viewtopic.php?f=56&t=42628
Open the attached CMYK image in PSPX4 and a previous version of PSP and you can see that it has been fixed.
I couldn't save the color profile, it took more than 550KB, but only 250KB are allowed as attachement.

Thank you for the update Simone, at least that is one I can cross off the list.
The colour issues I had in some copy and paste were not related to CMYK.....Pat

@patara

Do you mean by chance this version? Do you have a newer version for Win7?

PS: It is always very helpful when users write a download link for the trial into their first post. It saves time.

No, sorry. I realise I left off the X. It was meant to say "DrawX5, another Corel program."
So I'm referring to CorelDRAW X5....Pat

Ok, patara, I never use Capture and I don't have it installed here at home.

How do you get a screenshot from Draw X5 into PSP?

Do you press the press F10, or what ever it is, and open PSPX4 -> new image?

The image example from CorelDRAW X5 was as I mentioned above, a copy to clipboard in the program, which I then pasted into X4.
I opened both jpg images in CorelDRAW, copied them to clipboard and then pasted into PSPX4, I didn't use any capture tool in any of the examples I sent, all were copy and paste. I then saved the results as a jpg within PSPX4 to upload here.
While the images were on the clipboard I also pasted into PSPPX3 and PSPX and the results in those versions were always correct.

My original first post examples were also copy and paste but so I could show all 3 versions together I did capture the results. But what you see in the images is the actual pasting result of what happened in PSP...Pat

patara,
Cannot offer any help, but please provide Corel with feedback @ this site: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PSPX4

I have tried a number of copy and paste from numerous different sources into X4 and all have pasted correctly. I also copied and pasted StarWarGuy's two examples and they pasted correctly,as well.

Mike

@patara

I tested it over the day twice using different methods and the color always worked fine. I'm not talking about hese right/left pixel remove/add issue. This will be fixed with SP 1.

The colors however were fine; I tested it with RGB and CMYK to find out of Capture is the reason.

It seems that there is something different on your machine, however, Surveymonkey (as couldbe suggested) is not the right place.

You need some test to find out what the reason is.

As a technician, I suggest reset Draw (F8) and PSPX4 (Shift) while launching them and confirm to overwrite the workspace.

Open Draw Capture, take a Draw independent screen-shot (a Windows folder e.g.) and use another program like Windows Paint. If it's OK, then do the same screen-shot but paste it into PSP. If PSP reacts different, then remove PSP (using the Control Panel and restart system).

If Windows Paint also shows a wrong pasted colour, then reinstall the entire system.

Sorry. can't help.

Thank you for you comments Mike and info.

Simone, I'm not sure why you are mentioning screen captures. I've already said that any screen captures I've pasted into X4 from the Snipping Tool so far were correct, no colour change and no offset. Also any jpg images I copied from the browser also pasted correctly into X4 so far, but gif files are offset.

I know there is definitely not anything wrong with my computer, all my graphics programs besides X3 and X4 work correctly. As to colour change in some images that is only happening in X4, no other installed graphics program. Plus X4 has the same Colour Management settings as my X and X3 versions. And it is not every image it is only certain images, and those images have come from the clipboard of the program, plus those same images are pasting fine into every other graphics program except X4, hence for some reason PSPX4 cannot handle some images when pasting from the clipboard. It certainly isn't the images themselves, or they wouldn't paste correctly into other programs, and it isn't the programs from where I copied to clipboard either or those images wouldn't be pasting correctly into other programs also.
It's an X4 issue along with a myriad of other problems the program has.
The two instances I sited and showed images as to change of colour were from two different places. One was from my Hallmark Card Program, and copy to clipboard from that program pastes correctly into every other graphics program except X4. I'm not sure what file type the program uses as they are contained inside a data file, but extra clipart in the Hallmark folder are tif files. But any of my tif files open correctly in X4 re colour. The graphic I copied to clipboard from CorelDRAW X5 I stated was one I downloaded from the web and saved into a folder, so have no idea how it was made, but it was a jpg file. And that file also pasted correctly into every other graphics program correctly except X4.
But to muddy the waters even further if I copy to clipboard that same globe file in PSPX it pastes into X4 correctly, no offset, no colour change. And that goes for every file that pasted incorrectly into X4. If I paste to clipboard from X or X3 then the file is correct when pasted into X4.
Finally I know it isn't the install of my X4 because I get the same results from copy and paste from Hallmark Cards on my Laptop. The card image shown in my first post screenshots is exactly the same on my laptop. Colours changed and it is offset. The only common factor between my Laptop and Desktop is they are both Win7 OS, although different versions, Desktop is Ultimate and Laptop is Home, and they are both 64 bit OS.
Hence X4 has a problem with some images re offset and colour when pasted to the clipboard from some programs.....Pat

As a new user trying to find my way around PSP X4 with the parrot picture in view, some resizing issues have shown up. Both PSP and Irfanview may resize a jpg 3008x2000 to 602x400 when a 20% bicubic resizing ratio is applied.

However when a "One Step Photo Fix" is applied to the 400x602 image in portrait mode, the resultant size was reduced from 602 to 592 pixels in the long dimension. May not be repeatable. May not be the cause of crashes, but it did seem to happen on two occasions. Note: 592 is divisible by both 8 and 16.

Add me to the list with this bug. I had not noticed before reading this thread and trying, because usually I use 'paste as new image' after copying a selection from a photo open in X4 itself, and that works fine with no offset. But have now tested from various sources such as Word, Paint, IE 8, all give the offset.
This is on XP pro SP3.
