Problems following re-installation of MSP8. Please help!

Hi, all.

Following the re-installation of XP Pro and all my software, MSP8 has thrown up two problems:

• 1. When I try to open an existing project (*.dvp) which is stored on a separate drive (along with all its clips), I get the error "Unable to find the file. Please check the name and location and try again." with error code [16803:1:1].
  
  2. The WMV options in the AVI settings have gone missing, despite running the Add Windows Media Support utility and installing the hotfix (MSP8_SP1_3in1_8.10.0039.0.exe).

Can anyone possibly shed any light on this? I've done all I can think of and am at my wit's end!

First I do not have MSP8 but….

Having re-installed the operating system, have you installed the latest Windows Media Player,
There is also a Windows Media Encoder, think it is now called Microsoft Expressions Encoder 4

also have you completed all Windows Auto Updates.

Thanks, Trevor. I think MSP8, having last been updated in 2006, probably looks for an older version of the WMV encoder, certainly not the latest, so maybe I should try to find one.

But first have you installed the Windows Media Player, any version should be ok.
