No Audio

Post by AndyCr15 »

Any ideas why, when I split an Avi file I have, if I have the clip selected and highlighted, I get audio. If I click on the time line, so no specific clip highlighted, I don't get any audio?

If I create a file, the produced file has no audio :(

Thanks for any help.

There are over 800 different video formats which use the .avi extension. So to give us a clearer idea of what you are dealing with, please right click on one of your avi clips in the timeline and copy ALL its Properties here, including of course the audio properties...

It seems odd that it plays when I click on place, but not when I click another other. Surely that wouldn't be codecs?

Thanks for any help.

What format file are you trying to produce (Share > Create Video File > ?)? And in particular, which audio codec are you using for output? Successive versions of VS have given some users difficulty over mp3, particularly mp3 using the LAME codec. So if that is the only mp3 codec on your computer, that could be the problem.

We usually advise people to use another audio format, the most trouble free would be .wav which for most discs -- if you aim eventually to produce a disc -- would equate to (L)PCM.

The problem is before I try and create anything. When I do create though, I usually select YouTube HD.

How would I change what codec the software uses?

Thanks.
