I recently formatted my hard drive and re-installed WinXP. I then installed the box version of VSX4 and updated DirectX as suggested on this site. Everything seemed to be fine until I wanted to use the sample video V10. I have used this successfully in the past with previous versions of VS but this time it is black when played. I tried the other videos with the same result. Most of these video clips have green and pink pixels when playing them in the Single Clip Trim window.
When I import and play another WMV file not supplied by VS it works fine. Also, the WMV files named Sample-01 through Sample-06 in the VS sample folder are fine.
I searched this forum and did not find anyone else with this problem. It must be related to my clean install of WinXP but I'm not computer savvy enough to figure it out. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi woodchuck
Please update your profile to include your computers specification
Details of how to do this is shown in the lower part of this post

---------------------------
If you have reinstalled your operating system then please update Windows Media Player to the latest version
Also install Microsoft Expressions Encoder, was called Windows Media Encoder should install the required codecs.

Re: Sample Video Clip problem
Thank you, Trevor, for your prompt reply. I discovered that I needed another WinXP update because I am running Media Center Edition. Apparently MCE edition does not get updated automatically. I then upgraded WMP to the latest version for XP and that solved the problem.
I submitted a profile a few years ago but apparently it needed to be updated when the board changed. I updated my profile to reflect my current system. I hope this will be helpful for future issues.
Thanks again for your helpful advice.
