I was considering purchasing a Pioneeer BDP140Black 3D Blu-ray Player until I saw that
It does not play “HD-DVD discs” .Does this mean it would not play a HD DVD burnt by VS?
Considering all the other attributes this seems to be a bit of a let down if I understand this correctly

hd-dvd and blu ray are two different formats. If you make a "HD" disc using the blu ray format from VS then you will be fine.

Ken: you may recall that HD-DVD was the high def disc format which lost out to Blu-Ray a few years back, and the companies which had been backing it, discontinued using it. But a few discs were apparently produced using the format, and your proposed player will not play them.
