Is WinZip Pro part of the Video Studio Prox4 Ultimate

After installing VideoStudio Prox4 Ultimate, I was expecting WinZip Pro to be installed on my Windows 7 Professional machine. Is WinZip Pro part of this software package? If the answer is yes; how do I install this element?

As far as I know Win Zip is provided with Video Studio X4 Ultimate

After purchase you should have received an e-mail with download links and activation keys.
A seperate download for Win Zip
View your account on the Corel web site.

If you mean 'does it become an integral part of X4', no -- it is just a freebie thrown in. I got the boxed version, and there was a pamphlet in the box with a serial number and the URL to download it.

It is for WinZip 15 Pro, by the way. I see that Corel have just released version 16, but I don't think the freebie extends to that.

It's a free download and the link is usually sent via email after registering the product (download versions).

Update: I have been in contact with Robby in Corel Customer Support Services on this issue and have had the following reply:

“Yes, WinZIP is already installed with the program. This is used every time you create a SmartPackage. You cannot access WinZIP itself from outside the program.”

I have replied:

“I think it is misleading to say that WinZIP is installed with the VideoStudio when you cannot access WinZIP itself from outside the program. This point should be mentioned in your advertising; otherwise I can see that legal action might be started against you in the UK market under the Unfair Contract Terms Act and the Trading Standards rules. Yes, I was mislead on this and will in future be more careful and cynical about Corel products.”

Am I being unfair or unreasonable?

Win Zip is a stand alone piece of software.

When I recently purchased Paint Shop Pro, Win Zip 15.5 was also provided as a separate download.
I also received an activation key.
I have installed WinZip which is working as a separate program to X4.

Video Studio X4
I am using the original program, not the ultimate, I think Win Zip is provided with the Ultimate version, A little sweetener to get you to purchase.

It is true that the program does give the option to zip the Smart Package and indeed the program must have some means of doing this.

However Corel advertise:-
Free download! WinZip® Pro
File compression, file sharing, file encryption and data backup

As such you should be eligible to receive this software

As a thought, logon to your Corel account and view your purchase history.

What type of purchase did you choose, Download or Disc

If download then you should have received an E-mail with links to the download and activation codes.

Not sure about Discs, but try running the installer again, do you get options for Install Utilities.
If not did you receive several discs, maybe a Bonus Disc?

Yes, I bought the boxed version of VideoStudio Prox4 Ultimate from Amazon in the UK. Would you suggest that I should uninstall this program and turn the machine off. Then reinstall this program again, making sure that I say yes to installing WinZip Pro? I am wondering why Robby in Corel Customer Support Services did not suggest this?

I pulled the dvd from my boxed USA version of VSX4 (non ultimate) and viewed the file directories on the disc in Windows Exlorer. I saw no evidence of WinZip existence. Then I checked the enclosed paper User Guide indexes for WinZip and/or Zip. Nothing there either, which is as it should be from my perspective.

DuncanA: As I said at the outset, WinZip is just a freebie thrown in to the package. Uninstalling X4 and reinstalling the Ultimate version will not offer you the option of installing WinZip. The only extras that actually install as plug-ins for X4 are the Mercalli filter and Boris titling plug-in. WinZip has to be downloaded and installed separately.

You can SmartPackage a project, and you are given the option to do so in a ZIP file. X4 does this using whatever zip program you have available. I have never installed the free version on this computer, but have WinZip 12.0 on it. That is the only zip program. Yet the smartpackaging worked, and WinZip 12.0 opens the resulting package. Version 15.5 or any other version should also do the same.
