Re-installing VideoStudio x4 Pro BIG PROBLEM

Post by WAREDA »

I have a really big problem with re-installing COREL VideoStudio x4 Pro. My COREL Video Studio was working properly for a few weeks. Then a was installing software for "EasyCAP Capture" (USB 2.0 video adapter which capture CVBS video signal e.g. from old VHS cameras) and apart from drivers there was installed automatically ULEAD Video Studio 10. This was a beginning of my problems. I un-installed ULEAD Video Studio instantly, but since this moment my COREL Video Studio started to crash very often. I decided to re-install COREL Video Studio. I un-installed it in traditional way and tried to re-install it. During installation I got a message that "other version of this software is installed on this computer". I went through the forum and following the advice I deleted different catalogues named ULEAD. I still could not install my COREL Video Studio. I used COREL VIDEO STUDIO Clean Up programme, but it did not help. I really do not know what shall I do now. HELP!

Hi

and welcome to the forums

First possibly the bad news………………can you please read the post at the top of the forums regarding EasyCap
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=40286

Providing you have the correct Ezcap product then the device should work with X4, however my feelings is that you have a fake product, however some fakes do work?????????????????

Uninstalling Video Studio

Not all files are removed during uninstalling, for X4 corel provided the cleanup facility.
For VS10 it’s a manual approach.

I think I have details on how to do this, I will search my pc.

Hi

Have you managed to remove VS10 and re-install X4?

By the way I do not think VS10 is compatible with Windows 7.
However It will run on Vista with a patch.

System Restore is one option .

VS 10
These are the details I have regarding VS10, I assume the folders/files will be in a similar location with Windows 7.

reinstalled VideoStudio 10
1. Launch Windows Explorer and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View" to check "show hidden files and folders";
2. Purge/delete all the files in these folders: "C:\Windows\Temp" "C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Local Settings\Temp" (for WinXP);
3. It is safe to delete all contents of these folders. However, leave any files you can?t delete for now;
4. Delete these folders/directories: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems" "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 10.0" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\10.0" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SmartSound Software Inc" (for full versions);
5. Go to "C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information";
6. Delete the folder "{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}";
7. Go to Start-->Run;
8. Type "regedit" then "OK";
9. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Uninstall;
10. Locate and delete the identity enclosed in curly brackets that corresponds to Ulead VideoStudio 10: "{E188D820-1218-4E28-8BCA-91134C3664C2}";
11. Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio";
12. Delete the folder "10.0";
13. Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio";
14. Delete the folder "10.0";
15. Close Regedit and restart Windows;
16. Reinstall Ulead VideoStudio 10.
Note: You need to have "Administrator" privileges on your computer. "Limited" or "Guest" accounts won't let Ulead software install or run properly on your computer.
