Video clip transition Blip & MP4 file mismatch woes

Post by laidback »

I am in the process of giving Video-studio another chance, in that I am testing VSX4 TBYB, :) Let me say - its a close tossup between Cyberlinks latest Power Producer and its amazing speed and quality output albeit a little more fiddly, and well to be honest if it were not for Video-Studio's past history being so fresh in my mind the decision would have been easy..

Anyway - So far my clips captured with my new Canon Legria HF-G10 don't show any evidence of that Old AVCHD editing blip or mismatched frames around a transition when working with raw AVCHD Files, :D

So is it safe to assume that the problem is now redundant for good!????? Or have I just been lucky so far - or is that unlucky? :| in that the TBYB is coded differently to the Ultimate version which I may or may not end up getting..

My other concern was and still is the fact that some of my old raw MP4 video clips can not be directly imported into VSX4 TBYB as they could when I tried VSX3 TBYB version before I ended up deferring, so I am wondering whether this only applies to the VSX4 TBYB seeing VSX3 TBYB had no problems? or is that another major issue that Corel just cant get right, what with only the occasional version capable of working with all multimedia files out there..

Which reminds me is anybody else noticing a significant contrast and detail loss even after smart rendering with VSX4? or is this only because I am using a TBYB version and thus full 25 Mbit Rendering is available in the Ultimate version? :evil:

BTW - GUYS/Gals, I am Using an AMD Athlon 64 quad Core 3.1 GHz, 4 gigs of memory, GA-880GM-UD2H motherboard, PCIe GTS 450 Graphics, 1 TB sata drive, BluRay Burner.

No one has reported any transition blips, to my knowledge, for quite some time, and not with X4.

The TBYB is exactly the same as the download and disc versions, only missing some of the content (templates, transitions and the like) to minimise space. Moreover, the Ultimate version is the same as the others, but comes with the Boris titling plug-in and the Mercalli smoothing filter, plus some free photos and a free version of WinZip.

As such, you should not be seeing any contrast or detail loss with the TBYB version, just as you shouldn't with the other versions of X4. And again, no one, to my recollection, has reported this.

As for your mp4 videos not loading, it's difficult to say since I don't know their properties. But yes, some people have reported problems, particularly with high def mp4 from Samsung camcorders.

Thanks Ken,

Looks like Cyberlink still has the upper hand in my case, so I will catch you all on the next version, just in case Corel decides to allow importing of all media files properly..

@laidback,

Can you tell me more information about the "old raw MP4 video" that you are referring.. Like video properties, model and make of the camera the files came from and I'll try and see if I can arrange something where you can send up a sample file. So that we can investigate this further.

Thanks in advanced,

The Camcorder was sourced from Aldi, the Model if I remember corectly was a "Traveler HD X10",
that records 16:9 720p HD videos which are reported by G-spot "A Video Snoop" as,

Container
Codec avc1 H.264/MPEG-4 AVC
]avc1: MP4 Base w/ AVC ext [ISO 14496-12:2005]
- isom: MP4 Base Media v1 [IS0 14496-12:2003]
Recommended Display Size: 1280 x 720

Audio
mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
Info: 48000Hz 128 kb/s tot , stereo (2/0)

Render Test
Render OK via the following,
(Src)-->>--(A)-->(Nero MP4 Splitter)>--(B)-->(MainConept AAC Decoder)>--(C)-->(Default DirectSound Devices)
