Invalid Video aspect . . .UGH! Help Please!

Post by Korinna »

Hi
I need help  .. .I'm trying to create a DVD from my digital movie camera. I'm just trying to transfer the contents from the movie camera to a DVD . . no editing, etc. Nothing fancy since this is my first try.

I power the camera up and I can see it being captured via the computer monitor. When all is done, I get the following message.

"V129 Invalid video aspect ratio/display horizontal size (720) combination for DVD, display size should be 540. Cannot set MPEG parameters error. Capture failed, created file is corrutp and unuseable -- automatically deleted."

What am I doing wrong here? I'm a simpleton at this . . .please help.

Hi,

Some things that will help find answers:

1) make/model of your camcorder
2) computer specifications (processor, OS, memory)
3) how you are capturing (i.e. exact connections in use -- any capture hardware devices, the types of cables going from camcorder to computer, etc...)
4) type of videos being captured -- mpeg, divx, dv .avi, .wmv, etc...

I have a HP Pavillion 764X computer
2.53 GHz (Intel Processor)
512 MB DDR SDRAM memory
80 GB hard drive
64 MB DDR SDRAM graphics with up to 64MB shared video memory
CD-ROM drive 48x max speed
DVD+RW/CD-RW drive

My camera is a Canon ZR 60

I'm using a 1334 firewire cords to connect the two

I don't know what types of video are being captured . . .i'm assuming it's an MPEG. How do I find this out for sure?

Thanks

Hi Korinna,

the Canon ZR60 is an older modell, where i assume, that there don't exist any MPEG features.

Over the IEE1394 interface only standard DV-format (720x480 pixels - NTSC or 720x576 pixels - PAL) is transmitted to your PC which is generally stored in the *.AVI container format in DV mode.

But - what input format you have selected within DMF?

Here you should select "DV" and either "NTSC" or "PAL". The last two depends of you region and the camera settings. This should normally be NTSC (if you are in a NTSC area alike the US, or "PAL" if you are in the PAL area (alike Europe).

Hope that helps to find the kludge
