I have the testversion and i do some tests with Digital noise removal and a 10 megapixel Image and 0.3 megapixel image.
On my system, it happen that Paint shop wait around 4 sec and do nothing.then it begin to calculate and progress requester is show for around 1.5 sec
Can see when switch in taskmanager the CPU load refresh to high(4* /sec seem value update).when i choose a setting or i change a value it take always 4 sec until CPU load increase from idle % to full load.
Does this happen on other Users too ?
I have also written a Bug report and suggest that Paint shop begin calc as soon as possible, and stop if a value is change and calc again soon as possible with new value.
So all can work lots faster.currently i get no response.
The Smart Photo Fix, too have a delay before calc.It is 1 sec.
I test with a 320*250 Pixel image (0.3 megapixel), here the additional delays are too in.
In the feature list X4 stand that it can use GFX Card to be faster.I have a gforce 6600 with older pixelshader. So i guess X4 use no GFX card.
The render speed of all effects i think good, but the waittime make the usage of this program not fun.
I think the X4 Version is great, very good denoise sharp and enhance photo functions.
Is there a chance that there come a update of X4 soon to fix the Problems, or somebody have a idea to make it faster ?

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 wait before calc without any reason
This will be the first time that I've heard or read someone complaining about PSP X4 having delays or being slow, On my Pc at home PSP X4 is much faster than any previous version of PSP and yes I can work with images or photos that are larger than 10 MB, yes it does have some delays specially when saving and applying the effects to the images but it's not noticeable and like what I mentioned it's much faster than the older PSP.
Also keep in mind that not all system are made equal and I'm not saying that you have a slow computer but keep in mind that there are other factors why a software lags or slows on a particular system.

Do you have a lot of startup stuff per chance? Maybe some background program is stealing cpu cycles. Check Task Manager.
You have a decent/hefty machine to notice those delays.

when you scale a picture to 320 Pixel width for test, and then do Function digital noise removal, how many sec it need to draw the right image when "Preview" is on, and "Preview on image" is off on your system ?.On my system (i use a OCZ Vertex 2 SSD (is fast with sandforce Controller)with 120 gb size)the window for digital noise removement open very fast in not measurable time and on left side the original image is draw. But the right side image is draw 4 sec later.I do the test too for testing with deactive Swap drive in windows.there need 2.2 gigabyte of RAM so enough is free of my 4 GB System.Abiel Corel NA wrote:This will be the first time that I've heard or read someone complaining about PSP X4 having delays or being slow, On my Pc at home PSP X4 is much faster than any previous version of PSP and yes I can work with images or photos that are larger than 10 MB, yes it does have some delays specially when saving and applying the effects to the images but it's not noticeable and like what I mentioned it's much faster than the older PSP.

I have nothing running that eats CPU cycles.A example that show how fast Paintshop X4 is.
When click on the Corel Paint Shop Pro X4 Icon on desktop, it start in 3.5 sec in manage mode and show a 10 megapixel image from me and 9 thumbnails of the folder below. The image folder contain 135 files.I think thats really good and fast.
Edit: attached is a image (original is 1248 i scale down to 950 and 256 color png, so it fit the upload rules)that show how my digital noise remove window look. You see the testimage is 320*240.The image called "after" is draw after 4 sec wait when window is open.same happen when i use a 100*70 testimage.A 10 megapixel image need same time to show.

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 wait before calc without any reason
Can somebody please tell if on other systems there is no such delay in this testcase ?
Or can somebody tell how much speedup can get when use a Direct X11 GFX card ?
I see in Adjust mode, the Smart photofix and digital Noise reduction have no delay.
But "digital noise removal" miss the select of presets. All values need set.
To set correct values is not easy, because in Adjust mode even if only a small 100% view is show, the image is complete calc.In the edit mode, in 100% view, there are only the few pixels calc that are show but have a delay.
In Adjust mode, it happen that the program begin calc and then i need wait to move the slider until calc is finish. So here too it seem better when the calc is break and with new value begin.
I see in photoshop elements 10 Demo, denoise setting can realtime choose, but quality i think not so good as X4.
what i like in X4 is,
the denoise and sharpen inside denoise work best for my compact Camera and images are at 100% view excelent. Also the choose of denoise presets is great.
So if the delays can avoid same as in Adjust mode, is good for me.
Is that possible ?

Re: PaintShop Pro X4 wait before calc without any reason
I find a solution to avoid the 4 sec wait. When i change a value and i click short at the Pan button or "after" window content, the after result is immidiate calc and show
