Re: New Color Workspace is coming soon!!
The tabbed workspace has been there since PSP 8, so I doubt it will be removed. But it has only been the default since X3. It could be turned off in X3 if you didn't like it. In X4 it should be able to be turned off, but a bug seems to bring it back each time you restart the program.
For anyone who wants to work with multiple images to create another image, the tabbed workspace is pretty useless compared to being able to see all the images at once, so hopefully the bug will be fixed in SP1.

Re: New Color Workspace is coming soon!!
I'm a big fan of the tabbed images and I agree that the X3 functionality was the best of both worlds and kept everyone happy. Also, I often work with composites and have no trouble dragging and dropping from the layers palette of one image to the tab of another.

Agreed Kathy. While I understand the preference and even from time to time return to windowed interface (usually when cloning between images and want to know exactly where I am in the source image) I still prefer the tabbed interface when making my composite images as it makes switching between the tabs easy while still keeping the rest of the images hidden to remove distraction and doesn't hinder me at all.

Good news yes...josephlin wrote:Are you tired to see current "Dark" of PSPX4 workspace?
Several new colorful workspace with colorful icon design will happen in PSPX4 Service Pack 1.
We gather and listen to our PSP user's feedback and try our best to offer this present before X'mas of 2011.
The service pack is on final testing stage and I think you can see them through our update message in coming weeks.

Sorry to be a cynic, but in the light of Corel's past track record with this product (I've been through *every* dubious Corel version since they acquired PSP) How much is this going to cost us? (New fake version 4.5X another 45 quid)?

Re: New Color Workspace is coming soon!!
It's a service pack and not a new version. They haven't done that since X2 Ultimate. Don't worry it's just a free patch like the others.

Well - I have been holding off upgrading frm X3, but if this SP1 fixes bugs and that dreary black & white workspace, I might re-consider.

Re: New Color Workspace is coming soon!!
It is good news. but i'm slightly concerned that this means that's all that will be in SP1, that they'll have spent all their time fixing something that they broke in the just couple of months ago and not fixed any of the functional bugs that have been widely reported here.

Flagpole, please read the response by Joseph Lin to Trueblue about having fixed a lot of bugs and made minor improvements.

Well thank you! light grey will be quite a relief: the darks just mess with my head.
I don't know why things get taken away or replaced: feels like the "new coke" thing. Better to retain old looks as options if possible.
It was there in X3, or was that a kluge I found & applied?

Re: New Color Workspace is coming soon!!
I appreciate the aesthetic is a matter of personal taste, but I don't think Blue is a good option at all, particularly if you are working on an image that needs some colour adjustment, your vision is going to be biased by the PSP blue surrounding the image.Filly wrote:Wow 4 options..the blue could be very restful on the eyes well done Corel..Cheers
I'm somewhat saddened that, yet again Corel have done something flash for no particular reason, yet have, it appears, totally excised the default/original neutral appearance.
By all means make the UI skinable, but don't dump the default scheme.
I shall have to make do with the light gray UI, but that at least in colour work is a neutral against which colours and brightness can be measured.(1)

(1) Back in the days... We used to use a light grey card to balance light measurement in difficult circumstances.
Mmnnn! I still do.

Re: New Color Workspace is coming soon!!
I don't trust my vision on these things anyway, only hard numbers.
Maybe they got a request for blue. When Mr. Lin here asked what colors, besides grey, the beta testers thought would be interesting I personally told them to avoid colors and explained that I once tried a photo-editor with a blue UI and it had been terrible. So I found it slightly ironic that the one color they chose to add was blue.

Re: New Color Workspace is coming soon!!
I quite liked the "graphite" in previous PSPX versions. Dark enough to not glaring but not so dark that the contrasting text and icons on top of it end up glaring (as in the current X4 theme). Blue, I agree, is probably pointless. If there's 4 themes I'm hoping for dark+medium+light gray + the blue.
