"Do not convert compliant MPEG files" not working

Post by turc1656 »

hi,

first i want to start by saying that i have read the following page and am still having problems:

http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 00&start=0

i am using VS Pro X4 and i followed the directions there and burning to blu ray still re-encodes all of my files. the reason this is such a big deal is that for some reason VS is telling me it will take 33 HOURS to convert 90 minutes of high def home movie. this is unheard of. i don't know what's wrong with the software or what's going on in the background but this is completely ridiculous. after letting it run for an hour and coming back to the machine i saw it was only 3% completed, so...around 33 hours.

i used another program to instead do the conversion because i saw Corel had an option for not converting files already in the specified format. so i used that other program to create a .m2ts file with my 1080p h.264 video at 29.97 fps and ac3 (5.1) audio at 448 kbps. i selected these same exact settings in the blu ray build options and followed the instructions from the link above. yet, it still wants to convert my file.

what is going on?

the settings match and the streams are compatible with the blu-ray format. why does VS insist on wasting a day and half of my computer's life?

the only reason i'm even using this software is to be able to get a nicer menu. the other program is able to create blu ray discs with menu's but they aren't as robust as VS appears to be.

is there a way to skip the conversion or to create the blu ray files (bdmv folder) in my other software and re-author it in VS - basically making the VS software take the existing bdmv folder and recreating the menus, chapters, etc?

Jumping back a little, are you editing your video and then jumping straight to Share > Create Disc > Blu-Ray? If so, this could be your problem as it is the *project* file, and not your video itself, which appears in the burning module timeline. And a project file is not video per se. So a conversion has to take place to convert the edited project to Blu-Ray compatible video, and this takes place as part of the burning process. Mind you, 33 hours seems extreme -- though I had a 90 minute Blu-Ray project a couple of weeks ago which took 10 hours to convert!

i tried it both ways. first i did the project and figured that might be the problem. so i then made it a single file with the exact specifications i select when i come back and add that single file to the blu ray project.

for some reason it still insists on converting even though resolution, framerate, and formats (h.264 and ac3 5.1 @ 448) are all exactly the same.

what i am doing is this:
1) open up the program
2) go straight to tools - create disc - blu-ray
3) add my ONE single file
4) click Project Settings in the bottom left and change all the project and encoder settings to this (including making sure the option to not convert compliant files is checked):
MPEG files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(HDMV-NTSC), 16:9
H.264 Video
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 12000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 448 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 3/2(L,C,R,SL,SR)

5) proceed to menu options and adjust as i desire
6) on the final page i UNCHECK "create to disc" and CHECK "create blu-ray folders" and set the path. then i click burn and i see it working on the files and not just the menu.

pulling up the media information in KMPlayer shows the following:
P:\test_edit.m2ts
General #1

Complete name : P:\test_edit.m2ts

you don't think that the Corel VS software only supports 5 channel and not 6 for audio do you? i don't see the LFE channel listed in the VS properties i listed above.

Hi

I have tried a few options to burn a Bluray folder and cannot complete the process without the program rendering, “Convert Title”

I created a standard Bluray file, several in fact using different settings Digital Dolby 5.1 / 2 etc
and used the standard template from Share Create Video File Bluray

Everything I try still “Converts the Title”

i tested a small file and i can confirm that for my case the DD 5.1 is not the problem. Corel's VS software also outputs dolby digital with the LFE channel (a true 5.1). so this is not part of the problem.

i have another problem though. i let it render a blu-ray disk with the small file that i tested and the final product has incorrect video. it is totally unwatchable.

the actual video resolution and quality are fine but there is a weird problem that is hard to explain. the audio plays at regular speed, yet the video does this weird thing where it appears to be playing at 2x speed and then it repeats itself 1 second (or maybe a few) at a time.

so, for example - the first second of video will have the first second of audio at normal speed, but will have the first half a second play that second at 2x, then the second half a second will repeat that same second at 2x again...if that makes sense.

never seen anything like this.

i guess i'm not going to get an answer on this from Corel.

that's fine. i found my own solution - it's called TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4. yes, it's more expensive than Corel VS, but...it actually works correctly.

going to tell my brother in law (who gave this to me as a gift) to try to get his money back.
