PLACING BLACK BARS ON TOP AND BOTTOM OF HD VIDEO
Hello all, this might sound like a dumb question but I just cant seem to find a way to put the black bars on top and bottom of a video like in the movies. I am using corel videostudio X4 on a windows pc running windows 7. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You for looking.

Hi
There may be a way to render the video to produce the black bars, Cinema-scope, panorama-scope.
Others on the forum may have better ideas, I’m sure there should be a way.
Is this what you need, extra black added to a 16:9 aspect widescreen frame.
Most requests regarding black bars is aimed at removing them rather than adding them.
Your video is HD and as such uses 16:9 as the aspect ratio.
You could use Distort from the top track, Attributes tab or place the video in the overlay track, however resizing may cause some distortion.
Filters may be an option, but I think whatever you choose the program would try to keep the aspect, by doing so add a border to the right and left.
To keep the video in proportion it may be best to use some form of overlay
You could try adding a colour clip (black) from the library to overlay track, resize and position top and bottom, use two overlay tracks.

When playing back the video on your TV can you set the playback to produce this effect.?

Some nice information you have there. I will try these different ways of trying to create that effect in my video. I will let you know how it went. Thanks
