Hello Folks,
I'm wondering if I'm missing something here. This seems simple, but I can manage to get it done.
Let's say I have a some footage in one project with all the effects, fade-ins/outs etc I want and I want to use the very same thing in another project. How can I get only this one part from project A to B.
Open a second VS don't work out of the box. It just goes to my already open window, if I try to open again...
I don't want to convert is as a Video first - if I ever want to make changes this might make it more complicated - depending on the situation.
Is there a way?
Thank you.

Hi
For a single item, say a video clip.
After applying a filter, Pan & Zoom, P in P any effect, drag the clip to the library.
You have saved a copy of the clip including effects.
Open new project and drag to timeline..
---------------------------
For a clip in the timeline that has effects applied, Dragging a clip from the library over the clip, press CTRL key then Drop, the clip will be replaced, the new clip will have the same effects.

Re: X4 Multiple instance or copy from one project to another
Thank you for the reply.
This is basically what I need, BUT:
If I apply effects etc to a file, let's say picture1 and then with the effects drag it back to the library.
Then in the library I have a second file with the same name (2x picture1). Both have the same location and I can not tell which one has the effects.
More important I have no idea how to backup the files in the library where an effect had been applied (in case I change Computer/have a hardware failure).
Am I missing something here?
Regards.

I tried to test and it appears that they will use the same file name, You just need to remember which effect you applied to the first clip (picture1) see my screen shot.WorstCases wrote:If I apply effects etc to a file, let's say picture1 and then with the effects drag it back to the library.

You can export then import the library.. you can follow the steps from KB 000011147 - How to import libraries from VideoStudio Pro X3 to VideoStudio Pro X4? and it also applies for VS X4 to VS X4 library.WorstCases wrote:More important I have no idea how to backup the files in the library where an effect had been applied (in case I change Computer/have a hardware failure).

This is so not user friendly. I mean if I have several clips like this how am I supposed to remember. I can not even rename the clips with the effects in the library, because renaming will change my original file name and this will destroy whole projects (unless I relink everything with the new file name again).
Will contact Corel, let's see if they are willing to come up with something.
Thank you.

Hi WorstCases
Interesting thoughts, I have never used the library for a permanent location for my clips, my library is only temporary , and indeed gets cleared very often, you must understand that I do many tests in helping the forum as such the library needs clearing. If I need clips they are on my hard drive and can be easily retrieved.
Re-name
Any how, you can re-name the clips in the library, click the clip name below the clip, should change white highlighted. Type in a new name.
The original file on the hard drive is unaltered. You are simply re-naming a virtual clip
Otherwise create a new library page for duplicate thumbnails that have had effects added.
