I open up either PSPX4 or PSPPX3 and the RAW photos start streaming in lookin absolutley beautiful... and then one by one they darken-up and and bland out. This does not happen with my JPEG's. I can then edit them in the Adjust and Edit tabs to lighten them up. Makes me wonder if my codecs are messed up... however a complete reinstall of Win 7 64 bit has changed nothing.
Camera is Canon T2i

Re: Dark RAW Thumbnails
Getting any error message? Have you installed the software that came with your camera? You may also want to update your directX.

Re: Dark RAW Thumbnails
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/de ... x?id=26829 this is the most recent codecs from Microsoft. I don't believe Canon has released any RAW codecs for the 64 bit OS yet. But I'd advise against mucking around with Codecs too much (the exception being the one from Microsoft or if your camera manufacturer ever releases one I'd use it). Having the wrong codec can cause odd problems.
That being said, RAW files aren't going to look "correct" before you actually process them or load them into an editor. Canon's Digital Photo Professional is actually a pretty good RAW converter and general editor. I even use it to resize and crop since it's interface is something that I like over PSP.

Re: Dark RAW Thumbnails
No error messages on the PSPPX3 or the PSPX4 installations. I have installed the latest of Canon's DPP, ZB, PS and EU. I also have the latest DirectX MS offers for Win7 64 bit. I have also installed Microsoft's 64 bit codecs.
It is almost like the gamma is changing after a few seconds... The pictures change one at time right on down the row but not necessarily in order.

Re: Dark RAW Thumbnails
Is this only in PSP? Have you set Color Management to Proofing or something other than the default? If this is only happening in PSP then I'd try saving the workspace File> Workspace, Save (so you can retrieve it if this doesn't work), then reset the workspace to default by closing PSP then holding the shift key while you double click the desktop shortcut for PSP. You will be asked if you want to reset everything.
If this is happening throughout your OS then it's likely not PSP specific and a Canon forum may be of better help. Something like http://www.flickr.com/groups/canondslr/

Re: Dark RAW Thumbnails
Yes it happens in Picasa as well I was hoping some folks on this forum would have some insight to the issue. Thanks anyway for the suggestions.
Actually if you do a search on Dark RAW Photos yo will find PSPX# is not the only program with issues of dark RAW images. I was just trying to find the settings that would rectify the problem. I did some changes to the default settings and have gotten some improvement...
