Paint shop Pro installation problem
After buying the paint shop pro x4 downloaded version, I tryed to install the program and It said " please wait untill we make changes to directx" after waiting for 3 or 4 minutes it comes up with another box that says " the storage controll block address is invalid " I have tryed to update all the drivers in the computer, and i even installed winmaxamizer to fix all the reg problems. I have a hp dv7-6187 palvilion running 64bit operating system. I have a radeon video graphics card. The computer is only a month old. Does anyone know how to help me fix this problem?

Re: Paint shop Pro installation problem
I also have an installation error, I recently purchased the software from Target, I got home and tried to install it - it hangs at trying to configure the DirectX then it gives me an error saying "The System cannot read from the specified device" - I've also tried downloading the trial version and it had no problems installing, however, when I went to activate it using my serial number, it gave me the error "Error: Invalid serial number". Any help is greatly appreciated

First, make sure that you have the latest DirectX on your computer.
Direct X: http://on-msn.com/aLrk0j (WinXP)
Direct X: http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/window ... tx-11.aspx
Make sure that all remnants of PSP X4 even the trial are removed then created a new Windows user name with admin rights.. login to the new user name, download PSP X4 from the order email and not the trial then install the program as usual. Since you installed the program on an admin user name, the program should be able to install on your other user name as well.

Re: Paint shop Pro installation problem
Maybe this will help someone...
Direct X can become broken in Windows -- AFAIK this problem is more common in XP [may be even fairly common in XP], & fixing it often requires either a special app [e.g. Reinstall DirectX EZ] or reinstalling Windows [possibly a repair install]. That said, IMHO Google/Bing for quicker/easier solutions that *may* work. In *my* experience Direct X itself still works correctly, but Direct X setup &/or update report errors & so won't complete.
Now, P/Shop Pro X4 setup runs Direct X setup, & if that Direct X step doesn't finish properly, P/Shop Pro setup will cancel/end. However you can easily skip that Direct X step if you want -- this is what I did in XP Pro SP3: 1) copy the files on the installation CD to my hard drive, 2) edit "setup.xml" in Notepad, deleting 2 entries for "DXNov2007", & 3) running setup from that hard drive folder. Next I added P/Shop Pro X4 SP1. Everything appears to work fine so far.
