Ordered Paint Shop Pro X4

Post by MTD29 »

I ordered Paint Shop Pro X4 Ultimate by phone yesterday, Friday, Nov. 4. The downloads were sent and I downloaded and installed the program including the ultimate download. Two things have happened. First, the program appears to be 32 bit. I use 64 bit as also used in X3. Do I have to contact Corel for another download for 64 bit? They close down for the weekend. Secondly, I registered the software, before realizing it was 32 bit, and I have not received confirmation or access to the KPT plug-in download. I checked with my account and it is showing registered. Can I somehow remedy these problems now or do I have to wait until Monday to talk to a service rep.?

PSP has always been 32-bit there is no 64-bit version of PaintShop Pro.

As for the registration problem, from what I understand they have been having problems with their website as part of a move to a new system. What this all affects, I don't know. It may have nothing to do with your problem, it may have a lot to do with the problem. I would talk to customer service as the knowledgebase still doesn't have a lot of information.

Actually there is both 32 and 64 bit editions. Evidently they are separate downloads, so I will wait until Monday to get it straightened out. As for the KPT download, I will also have to take that up with service. I was reading in another post that the program was not ready for release. Corel doesn't learn well since it tarnished their reputation with version X3. That is why, in my opinion, version X4 is being offered for less than the last one. Prior versions to X3 had better quality control. Perhaps Corel needs new management.

As far as I can see, the 'Tech Specs' for X4 on the corel.com website say it will work on Win 7, Vista or XP in either the 64 bit or 32 bit versions -- but that is the OS they are talking about, not dual versions of PSP.

It sounds like you may have a corrupted or cross linked file. If you have a program like System Mechanic, it may repair the problem. And/or you may need to reload the latest directx from the Microsoft site or your DVD Windows 7 disk if you have one.

Oops. I misread it. I was perhaps assuming that there was a 64 bit version of Paint Shop Pro because X3 accepts the Topaz 64 bit plug-ins where my downloaded X4 only accepts the Topaz 32 bit plug-ins.

PSP X4 is a 32-bit application that can run on 64-bit OS.
