can't save BD submenu from template

Post by sigmaflex1 »

Hello,

I use VS Pro X4 Ultimate with SP1 on a new installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit system. I try to create a BD menu with submenu, but I can't save my changes in the submenu. I understand from a other topic, that I must use a template and save these changes under my Favourites Gallery. I do the steps like in the topic below, but I never get button “Add to menu template” to save it. Where is this button???
Many thanks for any help

Topic from Corel Forum:

"By Customise you are changing the template, after which the “Add to menu template” will become available, now you can save the template, which will show in the Favourites gallery.
Ok
1 / First page, choose a template
2 / The screen shows the Main Menu (the Title Menu) as “Currently Displayed Menu”
3 / Double click the text on screen to change to your own.
4 / If you have created “Chapters” choose the drop-down box Main Menu and change to Untitled
5 / You are now viewing the Chapter Menu
6 / again double click the text to modify / change
7 / Selecting the Edit Tab will allow you to add background music and video/images.
Then customise the font types, size and colour etc.
You can customise the Motion Menu and also select other Buttons.
Again once "customised" you can save the template to the Favourites Gallery"

Hi
and welcome to the forums.

Share Create Disc......
Modify one of the templates, from the Edit Tab choose Customise.
The Customise Menu window will open, choose one of the Navigation Button options or maybe change the Menu In…
Immediately below the preview screen Add to Menu Template will become available.
Select Add and the modified template will be saved to the Favourites folder, available from the gallery.

However this only saves a new blank template.
You then edit the template to create your menu containing your own text, links, background, audio etc.

When you close the burner module you are returned to the main edit timelines, Ignore the fact that it indicates “saving project”. Now save the project, File Save.
When you open the project again, Share Create Disc, all the menu details should be available/retained.

thanks for your quick help. The problem is, that this Button will not become available. I can't see any button which come up when I make any changes to the template. I know this function from old Ulead versions. Please see the attached picture, sorry for german. I changed the background picture and the text field.

ooh, many thanks Trevor. I saw this menu but I always thought, the changes must be done in the other menu  and I never made any changes in this menu. Now I have create my own template, I am able to make any changes in this Template, but I can't change the text of my chapter and I can't change the name of the template so I see this in the main menu. So when I close this wizard all names of the chapters are lost
In the attached picture you can see the name of the submenu template "Unbenannt" (I can change the name in the main menu but it will not be saved). And you can see the text fields in the sub menu template (menu name and chapter) which are still not saved after I exit the wizard
How can I save the names of the chapter und rename the submenu template it selves??
Many thanks for your good Germen help

Hi

When you close the burner module ( wizard ) you are returned to the main edit timelines.
Ignore the fact that it indicates “saving project”.

Now save the project, File Save or Save as

When you open the project again, Share Create Disc, all the menu details and chapter details should be available/retained.

sorry, but did not work for me. When I maually save my project and go back to the Share Create Dic wizard I still got my customized template, but all text changes in the sub menu are gone. Video Studio save which template I selected, but no text changes. :( So all chapter names and the name of the submenu in the main menu are lost.

Hi

Either there is some confusion in the Customise option and re-using a saved template or your program is not working correctly.

Just to confirm your findings………..

After creating the Menu you close the wizard, then save the project.
When you open your project File Open project then Share Create Disc –Bluray the wizard opens
Now choose the edit tab. DO NOT choose a new template from the gallery.
Are your chapter text showing or returned to Chapter 01……….
Apologies for repeating these tests

Can you download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010)

Run the file to extract the contents to a new folder on your desk top
Run DXSETUP.exe to install the files.

Manually Installing Direct X has cured some strange issues with Video Studio.

I do not choose a new template when I come back to the menu configuration, I did it like you explain it, but the text is still gone. I have directx 11, but I try your download. The problem still persist. I think my program is not working correctly

Hi

I don’t know the exact workflow you use but can you try this as a test.

Start a new project (nothing in the timelines)
Save project ( File Save ) to give it a name
Share Create Disc – Bluray
The burning module (wizard) opens
Add Video File (icon top left)
For each clip you add you will get a thumbnail in the timeline and a title link on the main menu page.
Select Add/Edit Chapters, play the clip to activate this option.---Add a few chapters
Next – then Edit Tab
Change the details on the Main title page.
Change the details on the Chapter pages.

Close— returns to main timelines -- File Save to save the details

Share Create Disc to open the burner module, in anticipation …………..

Direct X
The manual install does cure some problems for some users. We do not understand why this is different to the Auto Updates of Direct X

Hi Trevor,

it works when I follow your workflow. When I manually add a clip to the wizard, all changes will be saved, but the changes in the automatic added project (which is still not a clip at this time, only a "virtual" clip out of the project), can't be saved. I found the place, where I can rename this project clip from "Unbenannt" to a new name (in the thumbnail line), this will be saved too.
So shall I create first a final clip? I was the opinion, that this is not necessary because the wizard add the project automatically to the clip list of the create disc wizard. So this is the common way.
Many thanks for your good help

Hi Sebastian

That’s good news.

You have a few options to complete your DVD.
Option one….
From the Edit Timeline, Share Create Video File- what you choose here depends on what you are trying to burn. Your original video files properties, if Bluray compliant should be used.

Share Create Video file – Same as First Clip.
Otherwise ……….
Share Create video File – Bluray.

The new video file is then used as the instructions given earlier.
After hitting Burn the process will start with Convert Menu.
There should NOT be Convert Title as you added a compliant Bluray file.
----------------------------------
Option two……
Open your Video Studio Project and “Remove all Chapter Points”----save project
From a new project Share Create Disc—add VSP.

Add / create chapters

After hitting Burn the process will start with Convert Title, your project is rendered to Bluray compliant files used to burn the disc.
--------------------------------
Option three
Open your Video Studio Project and “Remove all Chapter Points”----save project
Share Create Disc, the wizard opens and shows the project as a single thumbnail.
Add/Edit Chapter Points.
After hitting Burn the process will start with Convert Title, your project is rendered to Bluray compliant files used to burn the disc.

-----------------------------

I use Option One, I prefer to create a video file of the project. I can then view/play the video to assess the quality. The final burn will use this file without further rendering.
The total time taken to burn the disc will be about the same choose which option you select.

Hi Trevor,

many thanks for your ongoing help. I prefer option one too, this was the way I create DVDs in the older Ulead versions. For creating a DVD it was necessary, to create a file out of the project. X4 offers a new option, it add the project automaticayy to the burn wizard, so I taught, I can use this without any restrictions. But this is not true. I think, this is a bug. When X4 offers this option, it must be able to save all customisations. But you show me other ways which are absolut ok for me. Many many thanks for this :D :D
