X4 Transitions - updated

Post by WorstCases »

Hello Folks,

If I have footage in my Video and overlay tracks - how can I make a transition in all (or selected tracks) at the same time.

To clarify I have footage in the main Video track and a couple of overlays, which are ending with the footage in the main video where a transition has to be made. Is there any way that that one transition is making a transition for the main Video track and the (selected) overlay tracks?

I wanted to attach a sample file (zip smart package). Seems zips are forbidden?
Did at least attach a screen shot.

Anybody any input?

Thank you.

Hi

drag a transition from the library and drop it on the clip in the overlay track.
------------------------
You may wish to view the clip names but ……….
Settings – Preferences—Clip Display Mode – to Thumbnail only will display all frames

This is not working for me.
Let's say I have my first main video clip ending at 30sec (then right after this one another starts - between those the transition needs to be made.
Now I have the overlay clip which just ends at 30sec. If I put a transition on the overlay clip, VS makes a transition, but in the black, because there is no video in the overlay track after this 30s. What to do?

I hope this makes my problem more clear.

Thank you.

Hi

Yes I see what you mean. I will have to do a few tests to see if the transitions actually work on the overlay track without producing the black frames.

Try this as another option…..
Select the clip in the overlay
Click the Options far Right to open the panel.
Choose Directions and Styles Enter centre, Exit to right
Then select the fade ramp as Fade out

The clip will float off screen to the right.
Adjust the timings by the blue bar below the preview screen (Pause Durations)

Thank you for the additional input.

Unfortunately this is not working either.
In this case my overlays are all text and they don't even have the options you've mentioned.

If you find out something else, I'd appreciate you let me know.

Best regards.

Hi

You are using three separate elements and each require animating including the text.
This is possible but can take a while to get the three in sync’.

The easiest way is to make a video file of the Overlay and Text.
Then use the video in the overlay track, apply Chroma Key to remove background.
Animate the video file to fly off to right

I have sent you a Smart Package containing a VSP, should open in VS X4
The first section shows the effect after using a pre rendered video file
The second using the three clips with separate animations applied.
