TGA Alpha Channel Corruption in pspro X4

Post by pixelmedicine »

Can anyone confirm that the alpha channel is not saving correctly for TGA files using PSPro X4?

1 Create an image with an alpha channel.
2 Save image as a TGA.
3 Close and re-open the TGA then load a selection from alpha channel.

1) Blank image with transparent backdrop
2) Draw a single line with airbrush tool
3) Create Mask Layer from Source Opacity
4) Save Mask Layer to Alpha Channel
5) Close Image
6) Open Image
7) Load Mask Layer from Alpha Channel

Mask data appears horizontally stretched and shows inexplicable vertical banding. Very odd.

I just tried as allicorn described in X3 and there's no issues.

Thanks, I guess it's back to X3 for TGA's until they fix this.

I don't think you'll have much choice but to fall back to X3 or something else, yep. At least with the Save PNGs flaw we can use the Optimizer. There's no such work around for TGAs. I must say, much as I love this product, there are some truly staggering QA failures in the latest version Corel.

Is there any update on this issue? X4 is fairly useless to me without proper alpha channels in tga files.

Thanks

Any news on this issue? Will the fix for this find it's way into the Service Pack 3? Will there even be a Sevice Pack 3 before PSP X5 September release and X4 fall into obscurity?

I've just bought PSP X4 2 days ago specifically for the purpose of editing TGA files with alpha channel (coz freeware GIMP 2.8 could handle them properly) and I feel cheated...

Thank you in advance for any update on the problem.

Unhappy customer.
