Corel Cad Mac

Post by rogermal »

I have no idea where to get support on this subject, so I'm hoping some one in the know will respond to this. I recently switched to Mac, I mac and Mac book. My career involves using CAD. Corel recently introduced Corel Cad. Problem is it will not run on the new OS "Lion". Actually I guess it would run but can't be customized, which is a big part of tailoring the application to a particular type of project. What I really don't understand Corel use the same CAD system as iCad Mac and Ares Commander. In fact all three are powered by Graebert Engineerings (Germany) Ares Commander. Both iCadMac (ProgeCad) and Ares Commander have updated their applications to run on Lion. Why not Corel?. I really, really would love to give my support to Corel but need an answer as to when they will have their version able to work properly.

Hi Roger

and welcome to the forums.

I can only point you in the direction of Corel Support, there is a post at the top of the Index page (Corel Information) referring to Corel’s Priority Protection Plans.

However I found a link to Contact Warranty Support

Most on the forum are not employed by Corel, one person “Abiel” is a regular forum user and may add his comments.

Thanks for the response. I knew this is a user to user forum but hoped maybe someone would read it and get an answer. Just hoping. It just seems odd to me that they introduced a product and in this short a time don't seem to want to support it. My reason for saying that is the fact that they still don't have it Lion compatible. The actual program seems to be licensed from a German company. When it starts it clearly shows " powered by Ares". Since Ares runs I just wonder what Corels problem is. I've contacted Corel but since I'm only using a trial they don't seem very helpful. I'm certainly not going to purchase it if it doesn't work. Soooo.....

Not sure what you are saying when you can run Corel CAD on your MAC. I recently installed Corel Cad on my Mac Mini with OXS Lion and it runs flawless. I also down loaded Ares Commander on my Windows Box (Windows 7) and entered my Corel CAD Key and it took so i am running both Corel and and Ares; Corel on OXS Lion and Ares with Windows 7.. Both programs are identical but i do notice the Ares version on my Windows box runs a lot faster... I'm running dual 28 inch screens on both and was able to setup tool apps on one screen and CAD main screen on another.. It's sweet and reminds me of Bentley CAD (Microstation) I use at work..
