Hello,
I have a Nikon D3100 camera and I am trying to use it to make stop animation movies. When I plug it in via USB I can import videos/photos to my computer, etc...so it is recognized. However, when I try to use it in VideoStudio X4 the only option I get is a webcam. Are there any special drivers I need to make this work? I have searched google a bit, but maybe I am missing something. I am using the trial version of the program to try and get things worked out before I actually purchase it. The software looks wonderful for stop animation so I really want to make this work. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi
As far as I know Stop Animation is used with DV tape type camcorders allowing the program to pause/take a snapshot at intervals.
Once you have transferred the Video/Images to your pc.
Launch Video Studio, right click the timeline and select Insert Video or Photo
Browse the hard drive for the files.
Import to the library using the Folder Import Media Files icon at top of library.
Drag/drop from library to timelines
Or
Browse using Windows Explorer then drag and drop clips to VS library or timeline
Select a video clip in the timeline, There is a an option to Speed/Timelapse to the right of the preview screen, if it does not show press the Options to the far right to open the panel.
Choose the settings you require……….
for more info Press F1 for help and search for Stop Animation

I also have a D3100 and yes the USB Connection is for importing photos only, the camera still has a mini HDMI and an A/V OUT which I have not tried out yet.
I would agree to the solution of Trevor... you can visit http://vimeo.com/groups/vs14en/videos/19414292 for a video tutorial on Stop-motion animation.
