Hi,
I'm probably going to get hammered here for this question but I am a total novice so go easy. I have searched the relevant areas, knowledgebase and instructions and didn't find an answer to my problem even though it will be there somewhere.
When I'm working on a project, "Corel needs to close" when I play the supplied .mpa (sound effect) files wether it be as a clip or in the project. I've downloaded the X4 update, any ideas or links to the forum with this problem would be appreciated, thanks.
Cheers Craig.

Hi Craig
And welcome to the forums, and thank you for filling in your pc spec’ details.
Yes you are posting to the correct forum, assuming you are using Corel Video Studio
Can you confirm you are using the original program and not the Ultimate, not that it should make any difference?
Very strange that Video Studio closes when playing the sample audio. Mpa files.
OK
Start a new project, then add only the sample audio to the timeline, do you have problems?
Do you have problems when playing the audio directly from the library?
If it only occurs with other content in the timelines, then tell us what you are using, right click the clips and select properties of any video files, what are they?

There are many reason why this happens. Can you try and restart the computer to free up system resources on your computer.

Re: Pro X4 closes when playing .mpa
Thanks guys for the welcome and suggestions.
I have tried freshly booting up my PC, opening VideoStudio X4 Pro and just play an .mpa file straight from the sample library and the odd thing is, it plays once ok then if I play it again a message is displayed reading "Corel VideoStudio Pro has stopped working" then I must close it.
Thanks, cheers Craig.

Hi Craig
Very strange, not heard of this problem before, and not sure what to suggest
My first thoughts are to re-install Video StudioX4
First there is a folder which if replaced will refresh the library and other files.
For XP it is located here, should be in a similar location using W7
C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro\14.0\en-US
Rename the folder “en-US” to “en-US copy”
Start Video Studio and a new folder will be created.
----------------------------------------
QuickTime has caused some problems for some users, random crashes etc, installing an earlier version has cured some problems, QT 7.5.5 is provided with Video Studio X4, if you are running a later version then it may be worthwhile installing Version 7.5.5
