Nik Color EFX Pro 3

Post by pdxrjt »

I have PSP X4, not the ultimate. However, I also have the NIK plugins. A few are not showing up in PSPX4, and a few are. I e-mailed NIK and they said the only one that was technically supported in PSPX4 was Color EFX Pro 3.... which I have. However, it is one of the ones that does not show up. NIK told me to ask Corel. Before I do that I thought I'd ask here...... anyone have any ideas? The NIK plugs are installed into the default folder and are all registered. They show up in another program (and I have the complete collection which should show up in just about everything.)

TIA

Did you go in through File -> Preferences -> File Locations (Plug-ins) and point X4 to the folder where your Nik plug-ins are located?

Thanks for the replies:

Yes, in preferences X4 looks at the folder where NIK is located, it see 3 of the 6 filters SilverEFX Pro, HDR and Viveza (all the latest versions.) It does not see the sharpener, define or colofe EFX.

Yes, the files are in the NIK folder inside the Programs" folder, the default location.

Other ideas would be welcome.

Are you bringing them in individually or by the folder
try installing a copy into X4 languages EN you may have to name a plugin folder
from memory there isn't one there
that is the path..Cheers

Thanks for the help. According to the instructions, I have pointed PSPX4 to the correct folders....but in checking around, I discovered this (and hope NIK doesn't just say it is a Corel problem.)

I originally bought NIK complete for Lightroom and then upgraded to complete for Photoshop. When I re-installed (due to a computer crash and also upgrading to X4), I downloaded the latest versions of the complete for photoshop program files from my registered products page at NIK and installed them. However 3 plugs show up in PSPx4 and 3 don't. Interestingly, the 3 which don't were put in folders which (by their default) have "for Lightroom" added (so Color Efex Pro 3.0 for Lightroom). Now, Silver Efex Pro 2.0 is in a folder called Silver Efex Pro 2.0 and it shows up in X4 and functions fine. I found that interesting and have forwarded another question to NIK asking if this is really a Corel issue. When you go to your registered products page at NIK it is pretty clear which products are which and I downloaded the latest version of the complete for photoshop collection, not the installers for Lightroom. Hmmmmm. We'll see what they say. I will keep you posted if anyone is interested or if my hair starts falling out and I need more help.

Nik plugins have to be installed. There is an installation and install them into your ProgramFiles(x86) for Win7 and then in PSPX4, file locations direct the software to the link on your C drive.

The Nik plugs are installed. They opted (default location) to go into Program Files and not Program Files (x86). X4 is pointed at the correct folder. Three of the six plug ins show up. Thanks for you input.

Well that is the question. When I go to the NIK website, log in, and go to my registration page is see things like:

Define 2.0
Define 2.0 for Lightroom

This is for all six plug ins. So, I download Define 2.0 and the file reads: Define2-pl-ver2.107all. When I download Define 2.0 for Lightroom it a) doesn't give me an option of downloading it for photoshop and the plug in reads Dfine2-l-ver2.107all (note the miss p in front of the l) So I think I am downloading the correct file and I am using my photoshop serial # to register....not the one I got with Lightroom.

I think this is curious.
