PSP x4 Installation Issue

Post by JoeyG »

I have poured over other users issue's with getting x4 installed, but none seem to match my problem though. I get the program installed with no issues and then launch it. The splash screen appears (doing all of the initializing with no errors) and then the interface comes up (for about 5 seconds) then the program exits. I can do this two times and after that it will just start to run then close immediately (no splash screen or interface). If I attempt to launch it with a "run as", is the only time I get an error "Corel PaintShop Pro X4 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have attempted uninstall/re-install, repair, installed under another user, disabled virus protection, updated video drivers. My system is a Gateway GT5228 stock setup (except for the video card - Nvidia Geforce 7300GT) / 2GB memory / AMD Athlon 64x2 4200+). Thanks for any help you can pass my way!!

When you open X4 how many other programs have you open.
I see you have 2GBS perhaps that is your problem..not enough memory
both 3 and 4 are hoggers..
In my old pc running XP with 1.5GBS neither will work..
Cheers

Thanks for the reply Filly. I have no open programs when attempting to run it. I have finally managed to get it "running" though. To achieve this, I installed it under another account. Then somewhere in here I saw a post about resetting the program to its default state by holding down "shift" and double clicking the icon. This was to another problem but after hours of working on this issue, I figured what the hey! They also said to remove a file (C:\Users\username\appdata\local\corel). I was not able to locate this file in the C: drive or K: drive (where the program is installed) so I skipped that step and then ran a repair on it (again with no issues). Low and behold the program did finally load (but still not without issues). When I exit the program, it will crash. If I try to update it, it will crash. Still tinkering around with this thing, it does not seem to be very stable. Also can only run it under the new account I made. Have invested a lot of time already into this program and have not learned a thing about how to operate it. Very frustrating - tempted to just try and take it back to where I bought it and try something that will work properly. Looks like it would be a nice program (if it worked).

I still think you don't have enough memory for it to work properly..
Memory rams are cheap and eay to put in a XP computer they just slot in..
even a mere female like me can do it!!!!!!
Check your specifications and see if your computer can take more..
You have 2GBS is it 1 or 2 x1.
I don't think it is the program I think it is your computer..
I run on 8GBS..
What version of Corel have you used previously..Cheers

Hello JoeyG,

On the other account where you installed it, is it an admin account? If it was, you should also have the PSP X4 installed on the rest of windows user name. If not, I would suggest that you change the right to admin and reinstall the program if needed.
