PSPX4 (and now PSPX2) - pen won't drag
I recently bought PSPX4 from Corel. I Installed it into my new Gateway tower. Everything works fine EXCEPT that my bamboo pen won't drag (for example when I use the erase feature or any makeover tools). I tried resetting PSPX4 to the default. I also tried opening a new administrator account, deleting the PSPX4 and reinstalling it. I went as far as reinstalling an old PSPX2. The pen now won't drag in either program. Tech support made the suggestions, which I followed, but the issue is still not resolved. Does anyone else have any other ideas? By the way, my pen will drag on my desktop and in Capture NX2 and other programs, just not in PSP.

I believe what you need to do is this...........
File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > Miscellaneous > Uncheck the box that says "Disable support for puck-type pointing devices" > Click OK
I believe the above setting has to do with tablet pen pressure.

Wacoms drivers and Windows Tablet drivers do not play nice together. You need to disable Windows Tablet features so that Wacom can run properly. This can be undone if this isn't the fix.
Click Start> Control Panel> Programs and Features (icons view).
On the left panel click Turn Windows Features On or Off.
Scroll down to Tablet PC Components and uncheck the box.
Click OK, Close Programs and Features.
Restart your computer (or simply log off then back on from your account).
Also make sure you have Wacom's latest drivers from their website.

Hi Dan,
I was so hoping this would work, but it almost set me in panic mode. I printed your instructions and followed them to a T. I already have installed the latest drivers for my pen/tablet. I restarted the computer and the pen was frozen on the screen. I had to connect the mouse so that I could go back and re-check the Tablet PC Components box, and then restart. Thankfully my pen is at least working again, but I'm still in the same situation as I was before. Thanks for trying though. I thought for sure it would work.

As mesmith322 says. Go into Preference and change the settings. I have a Bamboo and nothing worked until I made that one change. (Win 7 on a 64 bit computer).
The pen is OFF by defualt.

Re: PSPX4 (and now PSPX2) - pen won't drag
I tried both suggestions but without any changes. Bummer! I have an email in to Wacom now to see if they think a new tablet/pen will solve my issue. It's weird because it acts like it has a short circuit (both my pens and I've even changed out the tablet to one I had stored). It'll work for awhile, and then it is like "uh-oh, I'm NOT supposed to be working!" and it quits on me.

Re: PSPX4 (and now PSPX2) - pen won't drag
Edited a few posts about my issue and that I've tried resolving the issue with info people posted but it still doesn't work correctly. It will work for awhile and then quit (ie. dragging the pen for erase, makeovers and cloning). The cloning is really weird; it actually drags the part I've selected to clone instead of the area I want cloned.

I'm not so sure I follow what you're saying woohoopepper. It sounds like you might be saying that you are having inconsistent performance with more than 1 tablet, more than 1 pen, and more than one program. If that's the case, the problem doesn't likely lie within any of those things. You need to look to your computer as a whole and make sure that things like windows, java, drivers, etc are up-to-date and of course that you restart your computer now and then.

If it's acting as if you're clicking and dragging and it just drops the action half way through the problem may be with USB. Without getting too far into the techie stuff unplug anything USB from your computer except the tablet and see if that solves it. If so you likely have something on the USB bus that's drawing more power than it's supposed too, causing a drop in power to your tablet. My Microsoft USB keyboard is the culprit for my setup.

You may also want to remove PSP X2 from your computer, since PSP X2 is not compatible with Windows 7.

Re: PSPX4 (and now PSPX2) - pen won't drag
I've gone as far as switching out tablets and pens just to see if there was possibly an issue with one of the pieces of hardware I was using, but it does the same thing no matter what. It's a brand new PC, everything (I believe) is totally up-to-date. I updated the drivers for the pen/tablet too. I removed the PSPX2 because it reacted the same way, so why have two PSP programs with the same problem? I'm noticing on the forum that many, many people are having issues with PSPX4 and they appear to all be different issues. I guess my issue is minor compared to some, but it is still annoying for me when I can't use the tools I used to be able to use!mesmith322 wrote:I'm not so sure I follow what you're saying woohoopepper. Someone else is suggesting disconnecting all the other USB devices and see what happens. It seems like anything I do have plugged in is something I need, so I'm not sure about that.

Re: PSPX4 (and now PSPX2) - pen won't drag
Just disconnect everything else to test the tablet. If that does solve things then you can go from there. If it doesn't you can rule it out. If you don't try then we're just going to be guessing. Either way we'll figure out how to keep everything plugged in.woohoopepper wrote:Someone else is suggesting disconnecting all the other USB devices and see what happens. USB 2.0 does things together. If your keyboard says that it's a self powered unit then the USB driver won't supply extra power to the entire bank of USB devices. If you have a device that's "slower" than the rest that device will be what the USB bus will set the speed too. If you have a device that's problematic it can spread across all your USB devices on that bus. So if you can identify a problem device, you can isolate it. If you're on a desktop for example the front USB plugs will be on a different bus from your rear. On a laptop your left side will be different from your right. This keeps low voltage problems in check, and you could also use a powered USB hub to accomplish the same thing. If it's one device is "slow" you can pair it with other devices that wouldn't suffer from a slow connection (printer, external dvd, etc..) and not pair it with something that needs instant feedback like a mouse, tablet, or keyboard.

Re: PSPX4 (and now PSPX2) - pen won't drag
UPDATE!!! My issue has finally been resolved (at least so far so good)! Here's what has been happening. Nothing that anyone has told me on this forum has helped even when I tried to follow people's directions - the problem persisted. Corel techs - no help; don't get me wrong, they tried but I think they gave up because I'm the only one with this issue. I put in two phone calls to Wacom and both techs at separate times told me to do the same thing basically - the problem persisted. A wonderful tech finally answered a long-awaited email I had posted on Wacom and he had me install a driver that was not the latest but an older one from earlier in the year (I think). Voila - that actually fixed my problem. My pen now drags for the erase, clone and makeover tools, so I am one happy girl (er, old woman actually). If anyone else has the problem I had, I will be glad to give them the info I received that worked!
Thanks to all for trying to help me out!

Glad to hear you sorted it out and shame on Wacom for releasing those newer drivers.
