H2 Sync Loses Frames

H2 Sync Loses Frames
I place a live music video clip in the timeline. I add the audio clip from a Zoom H2 to the timeline. I sync it up at the beginning matching the audio from the video clip. When I check it 25 minutes into the project the sync is no longer exact. If I slide the audio clip up two frames it is synced at the 25 minute mark but now it's not exact in the beginning. I need to use both sources of audio. Any ideas, suggestions? Thanks!

Hi
Having separate video and audio files may cause sync’ problems as you have found out.
You could try using the Playback Speed option, this will stretch one of the files, by one frame if required

Re: H2 Sync Loses Frames
Playback option? Do you mean playing the H2 track in realtime and recording it via capture mode and make a file? I did try that and it ended up being the exact same speed.
I have used a voice recorder (not quite as good as an audio recorder) in the past for audio and found the difference was really bad when using the file directly from the unit so I had to record a new file in realtime and it pretty much corrected the difference.
I have been doing some investigating and this is a common problem.
I made a separate audio file from a video clip and it did line up but when trying it on a different event it stayed the same. I guess it's hit or miss with each recording.
My main purpose is to have the H2 record the drums because I find that most soundboard operators always mix them in the back and they're too low in overall volume. Not good.
Thanks for your response!

EDIT!
I just reread your reply and I see you said PLAYBACK SPEED. I will try that! Hopefully it won't cause any distortion.

Re: H2 Sync Loses Frames
You can either reduce the speed of the shorter clip or increase the other clip, but two frames out of 25 minutes, I am suppressed you noticed the difference.
I assume the problem derives from the separate recordings being slightly different, is it not just a matter of making sure the bit rates/audio rates KHz are identical. If the video uses 48 KHz and the audio is recorded at 41 KHz would that not affect the speed when trying to mix the two.
What are the properties of both clips?

Re: H2 Sync Loses Frames
I just did another event over the weekend and the two sources line up just fine.
The camera is a Canon HFS100 with ACC audio. Not sure off hand of the specs. The H2 is at the lowest WAV setting, 16 bit 41 khz.

Re: H2 Sync Loses Frames
I became interested in the Zoom line of recorders, including the H2, a couple of years ago, but have not yet bought one. If I recall correctly, some reviewers reported that perfect synching, even between two different tracks on those Zoom recorders that supported multiple tracks, could not necessarily to be expected to satisfy musicians.
