VCR recording.
With VS Pro X2 is it possible to remove or reduce the lines on sections of an old VCR recording as shown in the attachment?

Re: VCR recording.
That would normally have been done by the VCR machine before you actually captured the video from it. I think they called it 'tracking'... But once it is captured/converted as digital video, I can't think of any simple way of getting rid of it.

Okay, thanks, Ken. I just thought there may be a filter that would miraculously eliminate them.

The one at the bottom is in the overscan area, so tv's used to not see it. You could crop your video and resize it slightly to remove it from view.
The one in hte middle is caused by a tracking error. Now it's there it can't easily be removed, you could try recapturing, but having a play with your vcr's tracking settings first, and or trying a different vcr.

Thank you for that, Graham,
I did clean the heads and adjust the tracking controls on the VCR when capturing the file, but the attachment shows the best result I could get. However, it's only bad for about six or seven minutes, although too much to cut out, unfortunately.

Re: VCR recording.
Those "tracking" lines are usually caused by dirty, old and worst damaged heads, it can even be with the tape that you are playing. I'm not sure with VS X2, but you may want to take a look at the ADJUST Category filters.

Hi, Graham,
Thank you for pointing me to the Category Filters. I did manage a marginal improvement on my clip, but what a great time one can have playing around with those filters. The learning curve is getting steeper!

Re: VCR recording.
look into the filters (FX) for one called "Cropping" drag it down over your video - then in the options panel choose customise filter and set the cropping you require.
