So I got my new burner in, and the disk seemed to burn properly. At the moment the disk plays on my player in the bedroom that wasn't working before, but I still need to check on some of the older players that the original disks didn't work on.
Hopefully this was the fix and my problem from the beginning was the burner.
However one question, I used the file I created from the projects (went to share, create video file, DVD, and chose the format I needed), as one of the previous posts said this was a better option.
My question is, once I do this, I still had to change the video bit rate to 7000kbps, but my main question is, Should I bother clicking "two-pass conversion"? When I attempted this last time, it took almost 4 hrs to convert the video, and not that I have a problem with that, but will it actually make a difference on the video quality of the DVD?

Hi
Nice to hear you are making progress and have managed to play the discs.
Burning the disc
Having first created a Compliant video file, you chose to use 7000kbps to reduce the file size allowing it to fit to disc.
Please tell us how large this file is, it should be under the disc capacity, about 8 Gb for a dual Layer disc.
From a new project you Share Create Disc, this opens the Burner Module, here you add a video file, add your compliant video file.
The timeline will indicate the size of your video, Green Line only. Make sure you have selected the correct disc size lower left. (8.5 for Dual Layer)
This video will burn to disc without any further rendering, provided the option “Do Not convert Compliant Mpeg Files” is selected. Please make sure this is selected.
There are no other options to select…..
As a test when you get to the last window , choose to Create a DVD Folder rather than a disc.
The process to complete the burn is the same as burning a disc except the video is burned to the folders on the hard drive
Saves wasting a disc.
When you finally hit the Burn Button the process will start with Convert Menu, if it starts with Convert Title then the video is being converted indicating something is wrong ???

Re: Major issues when creating DVD
I'm having the same issue as described in this thread.
I created sub projects for each of my chapters. They consisted of JPG and MP4 HD files from a Sony camera, some 3GP movies from a cell phone, then I added some captions and background music. I created MP4 video files of these chapters. The JPGs were generally 5 MB each or 12 MPixel, and the video was 720 at 30P. All my MP4 output files were set for 1920 x 1080.
Next, I started a new project and went directly to the SHARE section, and selected the MP4 videos that were previously rendered.
I'm using a Samsung SE-506AB External USB Blu-Ray burner. I've made some expensive coasters because after about 5 hours, I get the Unspecified Error 5.0.0.
The total file size of the MP4 files is about 16GB. (1hr 44min). I can see that the discs ARE burned, and they appear to be completely burned when the failure occurs. We're talking I'm 99.9999% to the goal line when it all falls apart. Its like the session was not closed or something.
I just found out that the Service pack is not part of the Trial download, so I have updated that. I also updated afCvtTitleMenuRenderUnit.DLL I saw mentioned in another thread that referred to a menu setting when creating the disc menu, but I was not even using that checkbox.
The burner does work, as I have used the burn feature in Win7 to burn the 16 GB of MP4 files to a BD-R as a backup.

Re: Major issues when creating DVD
Hi
Unfortunately I do not have a Bluray burner.
After creating the video files.
Open a new project (nothing in the timelines) - Share Create Disc, I assume you now select Blu-ray.
The burner window opens, Add your video files.
From the last window choose to Create a Blu-ray Folder
Deselect create to disc…….(no more coasters whilst testing)
The process will continue burning the files to the hard drive to a BDMV folder.
If this is successful you should be able to play the movie on your pc.
As far as I am aware you can now burn the BDMV folder as a data file to a bluray disc.
As a say I don’t have Blu-Ray so a little unsure on burning the BDMV folder?

Re: Major issues when creating DVD
There's another recent post about burning AVCHD hybrid discs as folders. In testing that out, I found that neither that process nor the process of burning a Blu-Ray folder, produce the necessary CERTIFICATE sub-folder; or in the case of the Blu-Ray folder, it produces one which is empty. So unfortunately, contrary to our earlier advice on this, it seems our previous advice that you can just transfer the BDMV folder to a disc is not accurate. I still don't know how to produce a working CERTIFICATE folder. But I suspect that even if I can, then I will need to use something like Nero to then burn the BDMV/CERTIFICATE folders to disc as a Blu-Ray (UDF) 2.5 disc. Maybe ImgBurn might also do it but right now I haven't time to check as I have significant building project starting at home.

Re: Major issues when creating DVD
I discovered I am able to make blu ray discs with no problem if I follow your advise of deselecting the "Burn to Disc" option. I used Win7 explorer to simply copy the BDMV and empty CERTIFICATE directory to a blu ray disc and it has worked well. I don't know how the CERTIFICATE folder works, or what is expected to be in there, so I just copied it for good luck.
New problem discovered though.... Using the Share method, I selected multiple VSP projects previously created. The chapter advance button is disabled when viewing the content on the disc, however I can go back to previous chapters. I created another disc using the Auto chapter create method, allowing VS to insert chapters every 5 minutes, and this method will allow me to go forward or backward with chapter search buttons.

Hi Kevin
Cannot help with info regarding the Certificate folder as I don’t have a Bluray burner.
Kens your man for that, and he seems to indicate that the folder is empty??????
Video Studio X4 has a new Service Pack 2, I do know that it has improved some issues we were having with Chapters, but maybe just associated in saving the Chapter names.
Think it is a good idea to install the pack just in case it has improved the chapter navigation

Re: Major issues when creating DVD
I've installed the service pack 2. No change. My BD disc output still has a disabled "Next Chapter" button. The Preview mode in VideoStudio allows the Next chapter button to work, but in two of my Blu Ray players, there no chance.
