X3 Selection tools not working

The selection tools, i.e. shape, freehand and magic wand, have suddenly stopped working. I do freehand, double click and nothing happens. The freehand selection actually disappears. I click magic wand and nothing happens. I'm sure I've done something, but I haven't a clue.

Do you have "Hide marquee" turned on? This option, while useful, can give the appearance that nothing is selected because it turns off the marching ants marquee. It helps to unclutter the screen but can be annoying if it turns on by accident.

The option should be in your selection menu. Or by using the key combination Ctrl + Shift + M. Sometimes it's not available in the menu but you can still use the hot keys.

Otherwise....reset your workspace and see if that works.

Tried both, but still no marching ants. However, after doing a freehand and double clicking, I went to edit and the option to undo freehand selection was available.

If you don't know the steps to reset work space, you can follow these steps. Press and hold down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.
