PSPX4: Experience with the Nik filter?

Post by OldRadioGuy »

After reading about the Nik filters, I'm considering purchasing PXPX4 Ultimate just for the Nik filter deal. (I'm currently running a trial version of PXPX4.)

Can anyone here report their experience with that filter suite after purchasing and installing X4 Ultimate?

I downloaded a trial copy of Nik Color Efex Pro 4.0 (the company is not marketing the 3.0 version offered in the Corel deal). I tried it with both X4 and X3. Both will run the filter but they freeze after the filter window opens and then closes after a selection is made.

So, should I spend my money for this filter deal?

Thanks for the advice.

Bob,

I can't speak to the Nik plug-ins Corel is offering as part of the Ultimate package as I have the Pro version. I do have the Nik Color Efex Pro 3.0 Sampler that was part of the X2 Ultimate package. It consists of 5 different effects and they all work well.

The Nik plug-ins currently being offered were not included in the beta testing, so I can't really say how well they work or not work with X4.

In X4 Ultimate, the Nik Filters are described as "Color Efex Pro 3.0 Complete". They contain 52 separate filters which are of course customisable. I have played around with them several times, though nothing serious as yet. But some of them at least I can see as being very useful tools to me personally, while others I am unlikely to use. But I must say I am awfully glad to have them!
