Locked Settings

Post by liquidator87 »

For some reason, in the options of moviefactory, some settings seem to be locked, and i cannot edit them, like custom resolution.
Is there some way to unlock and make them configurable? Thanks in advance...

Depending on what template your using is how that screen works.
If you click on the top box there then the "DVD Compliant" frame
sizes will be listed and you should be able to choose another smaller
framesize.

MF will only let you choose a dvd compliant size.

If you have the Mpeg4 plugin you can create different framesizes I think.

Clicking on the box above the greyed out box doesn't give a correct
frame size you want? It has to be a dvd compliant frame size.

I want to use 512 x 384 resolution, i think it should be ok... but it is not listed in the "standard" list...

So if I want to use the "user defined" option, i have to install that plugin... where can i find it?

Ps. I've got a look around in the program, a lot of options seem to be locked like that, for example the frequency of the audio or other settings... Why? Is not good to give the user the full control of his product?

You have FULL control of all settings as long as they are DVD Compliant
settings.

You are trying to select a FrameSize that isn't Dvd compliant.

This product is called DVD MovieFactory and is for making DVD's.

To do what you want to do you need a video editor such as
VideoStudio 9.

For example with Tmpgenc I'm able to insert these files directly, and make a Dvd with them, without converting.

If this is called "Dvd Movie Factory" and it can only handle that four resolutions, why make the "User defined" box? You are saying that's complete useless...

To meet DVD specifications, you have to use one of the allowable DVD Resolutions. Have a look here for some DVD Info:
http://www.videohelp.com/dvd

You also have the option of exporting an mpeg video. Use Alt+K (or the Export Icon to the left of the timeline), then Customize. Go into Options/Compression, and then for Disc type, select mpeg-2 or mpeg-1 -- this will then let you select from many different resolutions. Keep in mind that if you select a non-dvd compliant resolution, that the resulting mpeg video can't be used on a regular dvd-authored disc (without re-encoding to a valid dvd spec).
