Post by magicjong »

My problem is when I use Corel video studio pro x4 and load a high definition video, in a few minutes it will turn off "power saving mode". What is the problem of my computer? thanks.

If yoiur HD video is AVCHD, that is the most demanding format of computer resources. If indeed your computer is a Dual Core as opposed to a Core 2 Duo, then it is really below the level of what can be used easily to edit or play AVCHD. So it will want to draw on every computer resource possible. So if you have the computer set to save power, it is likely that this could suffer as a result.

That being said, however, this is the first time I have every heard of anyone complaining about such a thing happening. I mean to say, I have not heard of anyone else with a similar problem -- at least on these forums...

Hi

What indication do you get to show that power saving has turned off?

When I am rendering a disc or file my computer will not go to sleep or screen saver and quite frankly I don't want it to. When I producing a disc I want nothing interfering with the burn and potentially causing errors. I once (in Ulead) had my computer go to sleep in the middle of a render/burn. I lost several hours of work...

What indication do you get to show that power saving has turned off?- when i load and edit a HD video (flips share by cisco ) using corel video then suddenly my computer turn off and says " power saving mode". I went to nearby computer shop and ask the technician of the problem and he said my power supply, i have 550 watts power supply in my computer. he also said that if my RAM or Vdeo card is the culprit then my monitor should turn into blue screen or hang in which it never happened. so right now im really confused of what is really the problem of my computer, i really enjoying editing corel video whew! thanks once again peeps.! have a good day.

Hi

I assume you are using a desktop PC, Can you tell us what power settings have been set for your computer.

Right click your desktop and select properties
Select –Screen Saver- I have this set to 10 minutes

Select the Power button lower right.
I have Power Scheme set to Home/Desktop

Your computer motherboard seems to be capable of overclocking, according to a warning on the manufacturer's web site. Perhaps the technician could check the fans, clean out any dust, and underclock the cpu slightly to keep the unit operational in full power mode when rendering in Visual Studio with the 550 watt power supply.

You may want to change the power option setting.. to a high performance option... or always on.

Since you are using Windows XP, you can visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... management for information on the Power Management.

One possibility is that the technician who had hands on experience with 'magicjong's' computer knew what s/he was talking about and that the 550w power supply does need to be replaced. :D
