Hello folks, I sure need your input on which system I should get for my HD video rendering. I have the two below to consider and the price ranges are comfortable for me since I have bought too many toys lately so don’t want to spend more than the prices $550. It won’t be practical for me to upgrade my current system due to incompatibilities with hardwares.
All have 2nd Generation Processors . . .
HP Model: p7-1110

Model: I620-1272NBK

Currently, I have a Dual-Core system from Gateway (Model: DX4710) I would like to replace this system.
Thanks in advance.

Just on a quick look, they have much the same specifications, though for $30 extra you would get a larger hard drive with the HP. What is not clear is whether the HP comes with the monitor in the picture -- there is no mention of it in the specifications. The Dell would appear definitely not to include a monitor.
The i3 is the least powerful of the i-series CPUs, but can still deal with AVCHD without any problem.

I see no mention of the unmentionable term, "Sandy Bridge" in the specs for either Desktop i3 2nd gen computer. However, the HP lists HD3000 intel graphics and the Dell lists HD2000 graphics. The HD3000 graphics might cut it, the HD2000 graphics probably will not. One PCI slot is listed as available on each computer, but as a person who is currently reading computer specs to the point of overload, I would be reluctant to buy either computer unless it came from the assembly plant with a warranted video graphics card in the PCI slot.

What do you think about this http://support.dell.com/support/topics/ ... &s=gen&cs=
According to HP Technician, "Sandy Bridge" is no more manufacutured for HP to sell (so this is old technology); maybe, this is why it is not mentioned in the specifications of the systems. So, it is outdated.

I have become concerned that some of the early motherboards may have switching and bootup problems associated with implementing graphics power management.
I have no crystal ball and am still hesitant to purchase my own new Intel i5 based laptop at this time until I read a few more user reviews of recently delivered hardware.

Buy from Costco. They will take it back within 30 days or even longer, if you find it bad after testing out... Al

Okay now. What about the two options: Quad-Core versus i3/5/7 series.
