"Heartbeat" sounds in x3 inProject but normal in File

Post by HERCULES »

I've seen a few references to this in the boards. The sound is like "bleeps" or "heartbeats" only when playing the project. To hear the normal sound, you have to play the file. But if you have an overlay track, this makes it impossible to see how the main track and the overlay track look together while listening to the sound.

One recommended "solution" says to look at a particular youtube video (link provided), which I did. I thought it would provide a solution, but all it is is a demonstration of the problem.

Some say to re-install x3 without the service pack. It seems to me I was having this problem before I downloaded the Service Pack, and I hoped the Service Pack would FIX this problem. That makes me doubtful that the suggested re-install of x3 without the service pack will resolve the problem. And doesn't the Service Pack have other important features that would be missing without it? It's hard to believe the only component to the Service Pack was to screw up the audio.

Furthermore, uninstalling x3 and re-installing it looks like a very long and complicated process. I don't understand why, if Corel is aware of the problem, they don't provide a patch or update that fixes it. Why is it left to the presumably tens of thousands of users to each go through the difficult uninstall and reinstall process?

Do I have to invest in x4 to resolve the problem? I'm very bothered by that. Is there any guarantee that x4 doesn't have the same problem? Corel is aware of a problem with x3 and their response is to shell out another $50 to $99 to fix it? How do I know that x4 doesn't have a major problem that when Corel becomes aware of it, their answer will be to pay yet another $50 to $99 to buy x5?

Has anyone been able to resolve the problem without uninstalling and reinstalling?

Thanks.

Hi

From Youtube please read the comments under Show More below the video. (i have edited the title to indicate this)

If you have the same problem then re-installing X3 without the patch does fix it.
I have re-installed so many times that the pc thinks its a normal operation. Yes i can replicate the problem to order.

VS X 4 does not have this problem.

Yes re-installing Video Studio does take quite a long time, X4 being no exception.

No i do not know of any other solution other than re-installing.

View the Corel web site for the Patch, you can then view the patches affect and whether you need it?
If you use DVD Movie Factory 7SE then you may have problems downloading without the patch, if you have problems but there is a direct download, somewhere?

Why does Corel continue to recommend downloading the Service Pack when it is known to mess up the audio? And then the only solution for that is to uninstall Prox3 and re-install it without the Service Pack? Why don't you fix the Service Pack so it doesn't mess up the audio?

I've just had two chat sessions with Help. To my amazement, their answer to my question was to download the three patches, one of which is the Service Pack.

How about offering a free Prox4 to make up for the inconvenience?

Just so you are aware, this is a user to user forum. Apart from Abiel who posts here occasionally, none of us are Corel employees, and as far as we are aware, Corel decision makers rarely if ever visit these forums -- apart perhaps from looking at the Wish List thread at the top.

User Forums and Corel Employees

Post by HERCULES »

That's a serious lack of communication on Corel's part that lessens their ability to please their customers. There's no liaison between the customer forums and Corel employees so customers' grievances can be shared, acted upon, and hopefully solved? It's clear to me that if they put out a patch that harms the customers' program to such an extent that the customers have to uninstall and re-install the entire program,* it's obvious something should be done about it. If I worked there I would address the issue.

*Does uninstalling and re-installing Prox3 make me lose my hundreds or even thousands of video clips, photos, songs, and audio tracks that I've stored in Prox3's Library?
That would make uninstalling and re-installing a much less attractive solution to this problem meaning that there really is NO solution.

You point out that Site Administrators are not Corel employees. Since you brought it up, what IS your relationship to Corel?

Years ago I was looking for a site to host my videos. There were about five or six fledgling organizations attempting it. Each had user forums which basically were filled with frustration and problems, as none of the programs seemed to work reliably. About the fourth site I tried was youtube, and they were so far ahead of the others in terms of pleasing users that I went on all the competitors' user forums and wrote" "I have an answer to all your problems. Try youtube.com. I like to think i played a small part in the popularity of youtube. So perhaps there is some value to customers' complaints and suggested solutions that is being missed in the Corel organization.

This is my first contact with Corel and I'm completely disappointed. My two support chats were of no value whatsoever, and the user forums seem to be a dead-end.

Hi

First the audio issue in X3.
I am very surprised that only a few or so it seems have this problem, when I first uploaded the video to youtube I knew but a handful of users that had complained. So really I don’t know how widespread the problem is. That’s no excuse of course for not fixing it.
Unfortunately X3 prompts the user each time to update, install the patches, at least it use to. Very annoying, the only program to do this, as far as I know.

My connection with Corel is exactly the same as your connection. I am a Video Studio user, that’s the main program I use.
My hobby is video and photography, I get a kick out of helping people so I’m on the forum, just been here a long time
I have recently purchased Paint Shop from the US market purely because there was an offer in the US not given in the UK.

My experience with Corel Support, best forgotten, I don’t want to upset myself…………..

Thanks for the advice on backing up the Library by exporting it and later importing it. I'm glad I questioned that before going ahead with the uninstall and reinstall. Now I feel more comfortable doing it.
