PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
Hello.
I purchased PaintShop Pro X4 yesterday. So far, I am impressed with the speed boost gained but I have a BIG PROBLEM: I need to work with TIFF files but this version creates a two-pages TIFF file whenever you save one (they appear as a two-page tiff with some sort of thumbnail attached). I have been tinkering with setup options but I have been unable to find anything relevante to this issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. In the interim I am forced to downgrade to X3.

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving bug
Can anyone confirm this by saving any TIFF file and opening it afterwards with some image viewer like Irfanview for instance?

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving bug
Without in any way having tweaked my recent installation of X4, I just opened a random jpeg in my collection. I saved it as a TIFF to a different directory, using the default properties set by the program. The TIFF opens absolutely fine in Windows Live Photo Gallery and Photoshop CS4. The same file even opens with no problem as an insert in a Word document. So I am unable to replicate your problem. You can see my computer specs over to the right, under my avatar.

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving bug
I use tiffs as a starting point and then save as PSPImage files for working on. Never had any issues until today. I saved one of my finished PSPImage files as a tiff and transfered it to another computer for printing. I opened the tiff in PSPx2. And yes I got a small thumbnail as well. Closed the thumbnail and everything worked ok. I only do this rarly as I don't use the other computer and printer for this type of work.
I'll do a bit more fiddling tomorrow and see if I can repeat the problem. (It happened 3 times to me today). I don't see it as an issue but I would also like to know why?

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving bug
Thank you very much for your replies Brucet and Mr. Berry.
I don't know whether this issue is intended or not but at least there should be an option to toggle it on/off. So far, I have went back to X3. I cannot work with two-pages TIFF files even if they are created or modified from single ones.
Best regards.

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
I changed the first post title to "issue" instead of "bug". Maybe it's not a bug.

I tried the same thing and uses Windows PhotoViewer and the TIF file opens without any issue on my end. Does the same thing happens when you open the TIF file using other photoviewer? It could a setting on your photoviewer or printer.
It will also help if you post a screen shot of the thumbnail that you are referring.

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
You misunderstood me. I am not saying the file isn't opening properly. The resulting TIFF file opens just fine under any image viewer. My main concern is that it appears as a TWO-PAGES MULTIPAGE TIFF which is what I don't like/need, specially when working with another software that open/saves only TIFF format.
Best regards.

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
I get 2 tiffs. One very small tumbnail that's hiding under a 'normal sized tiff. No big deal. I just close the thumbnail one.
But I would be interested in knowing the why? (I'm transfering a tiff, on a memory stick, onto another computer for printing. The tiff comes off a computer running x4 and I'm using x2 to open and print).

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
And I can only repeat that I get a one page TIFF and no thumbnail of any kind associated with it.

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
That's weird indeed Ken. Why some people get the two-page flavour and others the regular flavour?
Did you installed PSPP X4 on top of another? Clean installation?
I had PSP X3 but I uninstall it before installing X4.
Abiel Corel NA@:
I cannot post any sample because I have went back to X3. Maybe Brucet could be kind enough to post a sample. He is getting the same output as me.

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
This computer never had any version of PSP on it. I have X3 on another computer.
My X4 is the boxed version of X4 Ultimate -- though that is in fact the same as the vanilla version. (Ultimate has a few extras.) But there does seem to be a few differences between the download and boxed editions, even though the version number for all of them is the same (14.0.0.332).

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
Hmmm. I have the downloaded version.
I hope someone at Corel is looking into this. I feel like I trashed about 70 €
Thank you for your reply.

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
Well I know Corel is working on a patch to fix some other problems that - frankly -- should have been taken care of before the product was ever released on the unsuspecting public. Let's hope this might be one of them!

Re: PSPP X4 - TIFF saving issue
I've tried to repeat the problem by loading an old tiff into x 2 and x3 from the computer which has the problem. (My internet laptop). Everythings works just dandy.
But if I save a tiff from x4 on my 64bit desk top to a memory stick. And then load that file into x2 on my internet laptop. Bingo I have a small thumbnail loaded as well as the full tiff!
Something to do with tiffs coming out of x4 maybe?
It's no big deal but strange.
