AVI format render crash

Post by thejobe100 »

Describe your problem:
I'm not sure where else to turn for this problem so i will try here last.
i bought VSP4x about a month ago to try to get back into video editing (was originally using Media Studio on my XP machine but it isn't supported on Win7) and was working fine with video acquired through the method capture -> edit - > share. but once i started bringing in videos from other sources it started going bonkers.
one source i get my video from is a screen capturing program called Bandicam. it creates standard Mpeg encoded VBR AVIs. i would editing my footage cut, and snip where needed. add some text and then render. as soon as it hits 1% of rendering it will come back with a unspecified error and give me a dump files to send to tech support.
i then proceed to find tech support but was unable to find any sorts on the website that wasnt going to cost me $20 just to send an email.
i searched everywhere i can after that for a solution. couldnt find one.

anyone know of these type of problems or how to fix if possible?

it creates standard Mpeg encoded VBR AVIs.
Unfortunately, this doesn't help us very much since I wouldn't call mpegs encoded as avis "standard". It also doesn't tell us whether the mpegs are mpeg-1, mpeg-2 or mpeg-4. Moreover, there are over 800 video formats which call themselve avi -- which is just a wrapper extensions. And on top of that, your Bandicam program probably uses its own specific codec.

So please right click on one of these files in the Video Studio timeline or library window and copy all its Properties here. Then we'll have a better idea what we are talking about.

it uses MPEG1 encoder that was installed parallel with the program. came with its own .DLL files. can these files be used with VS?

You may want to take a look at this KB, its about the same error when creating a disc using VS X4. 000007553 - Getting the “Unspecified Error” when creating a disc using VideoStudio Pro X4.

Abiel -- it may be the same error message, but that KB article is about burning a disc. Here the OP is trying to produce a high definition mpeg-4 for uploading to YouTube, which has nothing to do with burning a disc.

thejobe100 -- does this program come with any other option for capture? I ask since mpeg-1 is now a virtually archaic format, and low quality to boot. I have not heard of it being used with an avi extension, but I guess anything is possible when 800-off formats use the avi extension... But trying to output it to high def mpeg-4 will undoubtedly present quality problems, if nothing else...

Hi

With a video clip in the timeline, right click and select Properties. What are they.?

You can Alt+ PrtSc would copy the window details to your clipboard.
Open in an image editor, save the image, Attach to your forum post.

If you are screen capturing to Mpeg1 you may be best to select a more suitable format when using Bandicam.

you were right. it was the Mpeg1 compression. i went into the program settings and found a different format for compression. using Xvid has no problems in VS.
thanks for your help its much appreciated :)
