Recent update causing problems

Post by melissapugs »

I am encountering many problems using PSP in the last few days - even more so than before. I will open a dialogue box - there are twenty at last count, including blur and 3d effects options - the OK option will disappear, and upon hitting cancel, the options to save, save as, and many other tools/buttons disappear. The only way to save the image is to press the x and pray the version saves correctly - about a 50% chance. The program will not close, and must be force closed via control panel. The problem will appear to resolve itself on restart, but will recurr after an hour or so of use. This is extremely troublesome to say the least and is preventing me from getting work done.

I agree your problem must be external to Paint Shop Photo Pro X3. Patch #5 seems to have solved the speed and most of the other little distractions occurring in X3.

It appears that PSP X3 is freezing up on you. Though like what OldRadioGuy said SP 5 had addressed those previous memory issues. So this may be your system having a problem somewhere else. Just incase this is a workspace issue. You can reset the PSP X3 workspace.

You can do that by pressing and holding down the SHIFT key then double-click on the PSP icon then when you received the message "DO YOU WAN TO RESTORE PAINTSHOP Pro TO ITS DEFAULT STATE?" just click OK.

If the same thing happens, I would suggest that you perform a full system scan using an updated anti-virus.

Thanks for the replies. Pressing shift and double clicking on the PSP icon just made the program close instanty - there were no prompts. ?? Besides that, my computer is clean as a whistle, and I am not experiencing any issues anywhere else. Just got through the fourth crash of the evening - I am having to save every other minute. Very annoying. I thought this update would improve crash issues...it has only served to make them worse for me.
Thanks for your help, any more thoughts would be appreciated, MP

Melissa,

Just to clarify Abiel's instructions a bit - first close PSP and then reopen it by holding the SHIFT key down while double clicking the PSP desktop icon. You should then see the message asking if you want to revert to your default workspace.
