Hi
Smart Proxy is a Video Studio process, it is normally enabled. It creates additional files that allow the program to run a little smoother, especially for the slower pc.
The proxy files do take a while to create, once created playback and navigating the timeline should be easier.
A small double icon can be seen on the video clip in the timeline/library, a proxy file with a similar name to the original will be seen in Smart Proxy File Manager.
I notice that you only have 80Gb of memory space, this is extremely low when it comes to using HD video. Do you have another hard drive on your pc?
Now can I ask about the original video files, before you have edited or converted, Do they play ok with audio on your pc and on Video Studio. Sorry if you have mentioned this before, sometimes we just take things for granted.
Cannot generate files or burn discs

Regarding the properties of your files, you have to right click on them *inside* Video Studio -- either when the file is in the timeline or in the library window above it. Then you select properties. You need to copy every skerrick of information on the Properties page that comes up, or do a screen grab of it and post the images here.
Apart from the AVI files, which Trevor has already noted appear to be a strange size and possibly part of your problem, I think the real problem is your computer. As Trevor has also indicated, AVCHD -- which is what the Panasonic uses -- is very demanding of computer resources. You need at least a decent Core 2 Duo processor for it to be able to play properly (if at all). To edit it, you will definitely need to use SmartProxy, as Trevor suggested. But you could have a problem even here since your computer is at the very bottom end of those that can even use SmartProxy with any success. And if your 2.8 GHz P4 processor does not have hyperthreading, then probably it can't use SmartProxy at all.
On top of that, is the other problem which Trevor identified -- namely that your Panasonic does in fact use full progressive 50p mode for its AVCHD, and VS still can't handle that. We are hoping that Corel is working on a patch for that.
In the meantime, the only thing I can think of is to look up the Panasonic manual, and see if there is a way to download the video from the camera in Standard Definition format e.g. DVD-compatible mpeg-2. I suspect it is possible -- using the Panasonic software which came with the camera -- but am not sure how it is done. But if it is possible, then the manual should tell you how.
That way, you will get around the AVCHD problem. But for future projects, you are just going to have to bite the bullet and buy a (much) better computer to go with the camera.

Re: Cannot generate files or burn discs
This worked for me- hurrah!!!!
Share, create video file, MPEG4, MPEG4HD. Now I've got usable files outside Video Studio & can put them onto a USB stick.
