How does the X4 text-tool work ? I hate it

hi,

I used PSP X2 ... a few days ago I bought x4...

but I dont know how the text tool is working properly..

Is it possible to change it, that it will work like that one in X2 ?


I cant move the text after I wrote something in a picture.
and where is a text-input window ?

every time a open a picture and choose the text tool it is in "vector mode" but I do not want this mode.

I think I will install X2 again, and sell my x4 license...

if I want a complicated and user unfriendly application I will use Photoshop ...

You can get back the X2 behavior of a text box by holding the shift key while clicking on the image with the text tool enabled.

What Kathy said, plus you can click on "Create As" and change it to Floating or Selection as in past releases. You can move the text, even without using the text box, by clicking the apply button and then moving the cursor to the center of the text until the cursor changes to the arrows point in four directions. Drag text wherever you want it. You can also stretch the text in any direction.

You can't move the text until you finalize the typing of it. This happened automatically with X2 since you were using the text box, and you clicked Apply (Do, unternehmen?). But you need to go up and click the checkmark bellow Ansicht. You can move and resize it regardless of Vector, Selection, or Floating. If you want it exactly as you remember hold the shift key when you click the image with the text tool.

Edit: Actually you'll need to create it as a Vector or Floating selection to move it without going to the Pick tool first.

I haven't found the text box mine just works on my layer..

hi,

thx, SHIFT and Texttool is working, but it is not working as it should.

Everytime I click the "T" button in convert my picture in a vector pic.
I do not want that ! I hate to work with / in vector mode.

Text tool is set to: "Create as selection"...

when I typed something and want then move the text,
the text get grey-out and its moving the grey one.

Dont know how to explain it, my english is not very well...

and the other ... in X2 I could select my text, selected the "font" and could change the font with
my mouse-wheel. (scrolling to all fonts)

when I try this in X4, it change 1-2 fonts and then the "action" jumps to the text box, and just
the text is scrolling up/down.

Yeah, you can get the box but just try and change the font in that mode, its a real challenge on my end.

I go back to X2 when I have a lot of text work to do.

Update, I have been using the text tool more lately and have started to get the hang of it. still much prefer X2 for this though. Hopefully X5 will address the text tool with some minor changes. I would also like to see a full 16bit work flow incorperated along with plug-ins being able to read the EXIF. Photo Shop has really pulled ahead in the last few years, I may have to give it another try one of these days.
