I keep getting error that its not a proper psp file .... why is that? ... Is this normal?

I wish to take my work back to x3 version cause x4 is so buggered with png issues that its now impossible for me to work with it.

X4 includes features that X3 doesn't support so the X4 format should not be expected to work in X3.

If you want to save the file for use in an older version you have to save it in an older compatibel format. When you go to "Save As" in the "Save As" dialog box there should be an "Options" button at the bottom. Click on that and you get to choose which version of PSP you want to save the PSPImage for.
