Hi DaisyK
Your video file looks like a standard Mpeg2 DVD, it should not be giving problems, so I am at a loss as to understanding why you are having trouble..
When you play the video file a Decoder is used to allow programs to recognise the video content and display it on our pc’s, this is a simple process and most media players will play most formats.
When we create a video file an Encoder is required, the process to create/render the video file can be quite complex for the software.
So comparing playback using Windows Media Player to the Video Editing software can be a little misleading.
Unfortunately the problem shows when using other editing software which seems to point at the video file being corrupt, or the Codecs on your PC.
You haven’t by any chance, in the past installed any Codec Packs???????
Super SUPER © v2011.build.49 (July 1st, 2011)
Super is a small program that converts video from one format to another.
I find the web pages a little difficult to navigate, the actual download link is on the third page (i think) towards the bottom, keep looking for the Start Downloading Super links?
Use this program to render your video file use the same settings as your video file except for the BitRate use 8000 ish.

Re: Video-Audio out of sync
First off I appreciate so much all the help you people have given to me. I finally gave up and took my computer yesterday to the technitian who does work on our network and computers at my office; he tried to help me trouble shoot. We tried all the suggestions you have listed above to no avail. Since I needed my computer this weekend we made an appt for me to drop it off for further experimenting later next week. He will do a clean re-install of Win7 so that there will be no updates loaded. There has to be a reason why the program went from working one day to not working another day. Not sure how that will help me since I use this computer online all the time but at least my mind may be satisfied as to why. Not sure why this bugs me so much!!
He did say we could also revert to WinXP to see what happens but that would be a pretty big step backwards I suppose. I have a terabyte hard drive with 6G of ram. What a waste if I cannot get this figured out. If we cannot figure this out I will purchase another computer for video editing only while I can still get XP. At least I know that 11.5 works with that version.
I will let you know what happens since I probably am not the only one affected by this type of problem? Thanks again for your help.

Re: Video-Audio out of sync
But you still haven't answered my repeated question about what happens when you switch SmartRender off...

Re: Video-Audio out of sync
Sorry Ken... There was no difference in the output when switching SmartRender off. Still had the glitch in the audio periodically through the file. It was mentioned that perhaps the file is corrupt. It happens on all the files in my library including one from earlier in the year. That file as it came from the camera does the same thing but did not do so when it was first downloaded from the camera. In fact I did the edits and burned to DVD just as I would expect it to do. Now the original file will not play without audio problems. Some of these files have not been edited, in fact most have not because of the audio situation. And I have not downloaded codecs recently (not knowingly any way).
But it does have something to do with the files from the Sony Handycam. The video files taken with two different still cameras that I use play fine.
When I get time, probably tomorrow, I will continue to experiment. I also am going to switch to HD on my camera for the service I record tomorrow at worship.
